With Sony undoubtedly ruling the video game roost in 2018, Microsoft promises that there are plenty of unannounced Xbox One games still to come in 2018.
From The Last of Us Part 2 to Insomniac’s Spider-Man, Sony’s already impressive year of gaming is set to get even bigger before 2018 is over. Over at the house that Xbox built, Microsoft’s offerings like State of Decay 2 and Ori and The Will of the Wisps are still hotly-anticipated but pale in comparison to the PlayStation 4’s offering. However, gamers should prepare to part with their hard-earned cash if the latest news is to be believed.

Speaking to Major Nelson about what fans can expect from the Xbox One this year, Xbox Wire Editor-in-Chief Will Tuttle revealed that there is still plenty to talk about. For those heading to Xbox’s E3 briefing on Sunday June 10 at 1 pm PDT, Tuttle says there will be a plethora of trailers and some major new announcements:
“During the briefing, you’ll have a chance to check out everything from in-depth looks at previously-announced games to trailers for our unannounced titles coming in 2018 and beyond.”
This echoes the words of Xbox boss Phil Spencer, who highlighted Microsoft’s move towards more first-party games. There is an impressive back catalog of exclusive games, but there seems to be plenty of new titles on the horizon too. Add this to Xbox’s Play Anywhere initiative and the world’s most powerful is ready to take on its rival in a big way.
Microsoft may be a little late to the party, but at least fans know it is a strategy that works. Only last year, Sony pledged to focus more on its own first-party offerings, which has lead to a pretty fantastic 2018 and an even more promising future thanks to titles like Death Stranding. Admittedly, shared entities like the upcoming Spyro: Remastered and a mysterious new BioShock are guaranteed to keep the Xbox One going, but a lot of die-hard fans are interested in the console’s exclusive entries.
Ahead of the June 10 briefings, players can now start wildly speculating what Microsoft has up its sleeve. As well as the recently-teased Gears of War 5, could other established series like Forza and Halo be tipped for a new title? Either way, in the great race to be the No.1 console, the Xbox One proves that it can still take on the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 as a powerhouse next-generation console.
