PUBG Everything Coming in Season 11

Season 11 of Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds launched recently, bringing rewards from Season 10, the emergency pickup item and the long-awaited return of the Paramo map, among other additions. There’s a solid amount of new content coming with Season 11 that could certainly change the way PUBG’s battle royale mode is played, as well as revamping its general gameplay experience. Here’s a brief rundown on what players can expect to see with PUBG’s latest season of content.

The bulk of the new content is centered around the battle royale element of PUBG. Players can also expect to see new rewards for the 11th Ranked Season, changes to how player progress is displayed and some major gameplay adjustments. There’s a bit more to some of the more technical changes, however.

The biggest change that competitive players have been looking forward to is the new Ranked Season. Season 11 is bringing quite a few changes to how seasons will be run in the future. Many of these changes are being implemented due to the fact that Ranked Seasons will now only last two months, which also ends Ranked Seasons running parallel with Survivor Passes.

Season rewards have been altered to account for the new season duration. This change to how long seasons run also appears to be aimed towards keeping PUBG’s core gameplay in line with its growing esports presence, as weapon spawns have also been adjusted in order to try and match their spawn rates in esports games. The weapon spawn increase has been rolled out to all maps and all weapons.

Players also have a new way to track their progress through the Ranked Season, as well as normal gameplay with new updates to the Mastery Medal system. New Mastery Medals have been added for Season 11, all themed around survival or combat situations. There also seems to be a focus on creating Mastery Medals for multiple playstyles rather than just kills. Players can also now display their Mastery Medals as part of their PUBG ID.

Where gameplay is concerned, the main addition in Season 11 is the volcanic-themed Paramo map. This map has seen tons of changes to update it for its return to PUBG, including terrain adjustments that provide new cover and dynamic events that change between matches. Paramo is now available in both Normal and Custom game modes, with the map retooled to support up to 64 players in Normal matches.

Some of the specific changes made to Paramo include up to four random spots, increases to item spawn in the secret room and reworks to the map’s terrain that provides players with better cover. Paramo’s return does mean that two maps will be leaving PUBG’s rotation. Karakin and Haven have both been removed from the map rotation, bringing down the total number of available maps to five. Karakin will still be playable in custom matches.

Players can make use of a new item that can be looted on the Erangel, Miramar, Sanhok and Vikendi maps. The Emergency Pickup is somewhat similar to the Fulton recovery system that was featured in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, with both being attachable balloons that can rapidly extract anything they’re attached to. There are many creative uses for the Emergency Pickup that PUBG players can experiment with, though the item’s primary use is to quickly redeploy to the center of the White Zone.

The Emergency Pickup and the return of Paramo are two of the more significant additions with Season 11, though the reworked season duration may have some significant implications for competitive gameplay. The changes to PUBG’s gameplay that put it in line with what takes place during esports matches may indicate that the battle royale is aiming to renew emphasis on its competitive scene moving forward.
