10 Best Characters In My Hero Academia World Heroes Mission

Over the last four years, fans of My Hero Academia have been treated to three theatrical films, with each new one somehow managing to top the last. While the films are stand-alone entries, with none of the events within them ever mentioned in the show afterwards, they’ve not only managed to tell highly compelling stories, but have also introduced several new and interesting characters into the lore.

The third and most recent film, World Heroes Mission has just about everything a fan could ask for, including memorable new characters, as well as returning fan favorites. But which of them manage to leave more of an impact?

10 Salaam

10 Best Characters In My Hero Academia World Heroes Mission

One of several new characters introduced in the film, Salaam is the number one pro-hero in Egypt. He isn’t given much screen time, and practically nothing is revealed about his personality or what exactly is quirk is used for. Thankfully however, the manga that was handed out to theater patrons offers some more insight into his character.

His quirk, known as Papyrus, gives him the ability to flatten his body to a paper-thin form. He uses his quirk to slip through tight spaces and travel at high speeds by riding the wind. Despite his brief appearance, the time he is given is quite memorable, thanks to his unique quirk and character design.

9 Endeavor

10 Best Characters In My Hero Academia World Heroes Mission

Currently the number one hero in Japan after All-Might’s retirement, Endeavor needs hardly any introduction at all. In the film, he’s tasked with leading the team based in Otheon in an attempt to end the chaos of the terrorist cult, Humarize.

He isn’t given too many chances to show off the power of his quirk, but fans do get to see a side of him that he has only recently displayed in the series. As he attempts to rebuild the broken relationship he has with his own children in one of the series’ greatest redemption arcs, he also shows legitimate concern for his work-study students, rushing to defend Izuku Midoriya’s innocence when he’s framed for murder.

8 Clair Voyance

Partnering up with Endeavor on the team based in Otheon is pro-hero Clair Voyance. Much like Salaam, her screen time is limited, but her character is impossible to forget.

She possesses an X-ray-like quirk known as “Voyance”, which allows her to see through any inanimate object or building within her view. This quirk becomes extremely useful during her team’s raid of a Humarize base. While lacking combat skills, she keeps a taser gun of sorts holstered at her side as backup support for her comrades. She also has an unnamed sidekick, who wears a flying-squirrel suit and can carry a person’s full weight while in mid-flight.

7 Shoto Todoroki

10 Best Characters In My Hero Academia World Heroes Mission

Son of Endeavor and one of the strongest students at U.A. high school, Shoto Todoroki puts all of his best character qualities on full display in the film. He shows true leadership and loyalty to his friends, especially after he and Bakugo set out to help Midoriya as he runs from the law.

His greatest moment, however, comes during his fight with the villain and Humarize member known as Leviathan, who has physical strength has been greatly enhanced by the trigger drug. During his intense battle, Todoroki pulls out all the stops and gets more creative with his quirk, unleashing a barrage of unique attacks and defenses until it all builds up to the most powerful and impressive move he has ever shown.

6 Beros

10 Best Characters In My Hero Academia World Heroes Mission

One of the film’s supporting villains, Beros is a mercenary working with Humarize. Her masked face and mysterious, calculated nature give off vibes similar to a brainwashed Bucky Barnes in the MCU.

A highly skilled archer, she uses her quirk “Longbow” to form her fingers into exactly that. The power she releases on her arrows is enough to even penetrate moving vehicles at far distances. While her real name and backstory will most likely remain unknown forever due to her death, this character is one of those examples where the mystery is far more interesting and intriguing than the answer.

5 Flect

10 Best Characters In My Hero Academia World Heroes Mission

Compared to the main antagonists of the franchise’s previous two films, Flect is certainly the most memorable of them all. A charismatic and complex character with a darkly complicated motive, he’s certain to become one of those MHA villains fans love the most.

As the leader of Humarize, Flect sees quirks as a danger to humanity and seeks to drive all super-powered individuals to extinction. His own quirk, “Reflection”, gives him the ability to reflect the impact of any attack back onto the attacker themselves. Like most cult leaders, he’s convinced that what he is doing is for the greater good, which makes him even more dangerous and frightening.

4 Katsuki Bakugo

Not much about Bakugo has really changed at this point. He’s still just as hot-headed and arrogant as ever, but he does seem more cooperative and willing to work alongside Midoriya and Todoroki (although, he’d never admit it).

His shining moment in the film comes during the climax, in his showdown with the twin villains known as the Serpenters. In a rather brutal fight scene and a rare occurrence of vulnerability, Bakugo is slashed and stabbed repeatedly by drug-enhanced twins with their corded blades. Against all odds, however, he manages to push past his limit and defeat them in one of the most impressive and destructive displays of power his quirk has ever shown.

3 Izuku Midoriya/Deku

10 Best Characters In My Hero Academia World Heroes Mission

Izuku Midoriya has become one of the most iconic and beloved protagonists in all of anime, and it’s not at all hard to see why. His formidable optimism and admirable generosity make him one of those characters fans would love to be friends with in real life.

When the story takes a turn in an unexpected direction by placing him on the run while wanted for murder, fans are given a glimpse into just how Midoriya can handle his own dangerous situation when he’s the one taking charge of it. Especially in his showdown with Flect, much like Bakugo and Todoroki, he manages to prove just how much he can hold his own without having to rely on any teammates to back him up.

2 Pino

10 Best Characters In My Hero Academia World Heroes Mission

This adorable pink bird isn’t just a comic relief companion to Rody Soul, and she certainly isn’t a character created to sell merchandise. In many ways, she actually happens to be the real hero of the film’s story.

Pino is the physical manifestation of Rody’s quirk, reflecting his true feelings and emotions to a humorously exaggerated level. However, she’s also shown to have a mind and feelings of her own, waking Midoriya to save Rody from a villain attack after an attempt to give up the briefcase to the authorities. She was also the one who disarmed Humarize’s trigger bombs, thus saving humanity. How could anyone not fall in love with this bird?

1 Rody Soul

Throughout the course of the film, this newly introduced character becomes the Samwise Gamgee to Midoriya’s Frodo Baggins. While Midoriya is still the main protagonist, the character of Rody becomes the true heart and soul of the film.

The death of his father at the hands of Humarize had left this fast-moving huckster as the sole caretaker of his two younger siblings, taking up shady criminal underground jobs to provide for them. His distrust of heroes begins to fade upon being thrust into Midoriya’s run from the law and being touched by his determination and generous nature, as he’s reminded of the good left the world. His sense of humor and character growth are incredibly engaging, making him of the best original characters of any My Hero Academia movie.
