The farming genre is one of the most popular video game categories nowadays, with some of its best titles providing uniquely relaxing and cozy experiences. Looking ahead, there are more than enough farming games releasing either this year or the next, and some look especially exciting.

While most are inspired by Stardew Valley and its farming, mining, and fishing gameplay, each game offers some new, distinct features that make them stand out, such as coral reef exploration, driving mechanics, and even potion brewing. In short, there’s something for everyone in these new upcoming farming games, and to make things easier, all will be available, between others, on Steam.

10 Monster Harvest (August 19, 2021)

Monster Harvest is a 2.5D game that offers a unique approach to farming simulators. The player plants and grows crops similar to other games, but they also mutate them and have them fight for the player’s sake.

Through mutating better crops, the player acquires stronger allies to fight in order to progress the game. On top of that, the game includes multiple characters to choose from, as well as seasons and seasonal festivals to attend.

9 Coral Island (October 2021)

Coral Island is one of the most hyped upcoming farming games. Although this sets the bar for the game a bit too high, many fans have argued that it looks like an improved version of the famous Stardew Valley.

Lonefarm, as its name hints, offers a farming experience based on solitude, closeness to nature, and coziness. It combines farming with driving as the player also has a small van to accompany them on their adventures.

Players can travel to the nearest village to sell crops or drive across the beach highway and explore around the area.The goal of the game is to create a cozy and relaxed experienced that everyone can enjoy.

6 Kitaria Fables (September 2, 2021)

Kitaria Fables is a 3D farming sim with an action RPG twist. Although it features the default farming, gathering, and harvesting mechanics, it also includes real-time combat, amazing graphics, and a co-op mode. On top of that, it currently has a demo available for download on Steam.

Lastly, the game will feature a full release without any early access or open beta tests, so players will buy a full game at launch which, combined with its co-op campaign, could make it one of the best RPGs to be played with friends.

5 The Ranchers (2021)

The Ranchers is a 3D farming sim that is evenly split between progressing the player’s own ranch and exploring the vast open world. The best point is that exploration can be done on foot, horse, scooter, pickup, or even yacht where the player can find rare minerals, dangerous enemies, or shipwrecks full of loot.

It also allows for great creativity with house building as players are free to building wherever and whatever they want.

4 Ova Magica (2022)

Ova Magica is a 3D farming sim that includes some elements of magic. Specifically, the player hatches “blobs” from eggs and trains them in order to have them help out on the farm by performing daily routine tasks like watering the crops.

“Blobs” can also be trained to level up and increase their bonds with the player in order to become more efficient and stronger. Also, players can have their “blobs” fight each other in an encounter that resembles Pokemon trainer battles.

3 A New Leaf: Memories (March 2022)

A New Leaf: Memories is a 3D farming sim that offers everything that the genre’s fans could ask for. From farming, cooking, and animal breeding, to mining and fishing, there’s something for everyone in this game.

On top of that, it also features storyline quests that will help the player become more familiar with the story of the island and what exactly happened there before they arrived.

2 One Lonely Outpost (Early 2022)

One Lonely Outpost is a 2D farming and colony sim with a technological twist. The player could opt for a more high-tech approach to farming by using robo-cows and gene-splicing, although it is not sure yet what will be the benefits and the drawbacks of this, as the all-natural approach is also an option.

The game also offers villager relationships, exploration of ancient alien ruins, and a co-op mode with up to four players.

1 Everafter Falls (2022)

Everafter Falls is a 2D farming sim with a co-op mode. Apart from farming, it features RPG-like dungeons, storyline quests, and skill progression. Nevertheless, its most unique feature is the use of a pet animal that can dig, water plants, and fight as well as learn other abilities while leveling up.

Although there’s not much revealed about this game yet, it’s definitely worth keeping an eye on its progression through the next year.
