After the channel decided to stray from strictly playing music videos, MTV slowly became the hot spot for prime reality TV shows. Throughout the years, many shows have premiered and caught the attention of young audiences everywhere looking for their next show to binge.

MTV is still producing great reality shows to this day, with many series returning as reboots or using original cast members to create a whole new experience. Whether it is keeping up with the cast of Jersey Shore or tuning in to see what the next story of Catfish is, the channel has continued to hold a high standard for quality television.

10 Ghosted: Love Gone Missing (4.8)

Inspired by the success of Catfish, Ghosted: Love Gone Missing follows individuals who have been cut off by a friend, family member, or former romantic partner as they investigate the reality of what actually happened.

Hosted by recording artist Travis Mills and The Bachelorette’s Rachel Lindsay, the show follows different “ghosting” issues, such as friends moving away without notice, roommates blocking other roommates on social media, and new friends getting in the way of old friendships.

9 Ex On The Beach (4.9)

Ex On The Beach follows 10 single celebrities from different reality shows and places them on one island for a romantic vacation, only to find out that they have to do this with their exes. It is based on the British reality series of the same name and is hosted by Romeo Miller.

The show involves a mixture of social experiments for the stars, such as the “Shack of Secrets,” where the truth is revealed about past relationships, and the “Flag Pole,” which displays three different cast members’ faces, who may have their ex arriving on the beach (even if they already have one in the house).

8 MTV Floribama Shore (5.0)

A part of the franchise that brought Jersey Shore to fame, Floribama Shore follows eight young adults who spend a summer in Panama City Beach.

Whether they are working, partying, fighting, or bonding with each other, the show highlights their craziest and most vulnerable moments over a few weeks in the summer. The show is currently in its fourth season, which premiered in February 2021.

7 Double Shot At Love With DJ Pauly D & Vinny (6.0)

This series is technically a reboot of the original Double Shot At Love and spin-off A Shot At Love With Tila Tequila with a twist. Since its premiere in 2019, DJ Pauly D & Vinny from Jersey Shore attempt to win over female contestants’ hearts through different games and other activities to try and form a connection with them.

In season 2, Pauly D found love, and the show has been renewed for a third season, which will show Pauly and his girlfriend, Nikki Hall, helping Vinny find a partner.

6 Ridiculousness (6.4)

Created by Rob Dyrdek in 2011, Ridiculousness is described as a “comedy clip show” where Rob and other panelists react and mock viral videos from the internet.

A strict policy of the show is that no video can be submitted by viewers, and the producers instead license already-existing content that they discover themselves online. Many celebrities have guest-starred to hang out with Rob and the crew, such as Rob Gronkowski, Jake Paul, Juicy J, Justin Bieber, and Chrissy Teigen.

5 Are You The One? (6.5)

This dating series uses modern-day technology to pair couples together via a matchmaking algorithm. While living in the same house, the 20 male and female contestants have a goal to identify who was paired as the “perfect matches” in the house for a $1 million prize.

In each season, contestants can go on dates and enter the “truth booth” to help determine if they are a match. The series made television history in its eighth season, where it was the first to exclusively feature openly LGBTQ+ and sexually fluid contestants.

4 Jersey Shore Family Vacation (6.7)

After the end of Jersey Shore in 2012, the cast decided to come back for a family vacation for one season as a limited series, only to be renewed immediately by MTV for more seasons.

Although most of the original cast is engaged, married, or parents, the show follows them navigating life together at multiple locations, such as Miami, Las Vegas, and Atlantic City. Some episodes have highlighted major moments in the cast’s lives, such as Jenni’s whirlwind divorce, Angelina’s wedding, and Mike ‘The Situation’ going to jail.

Inspired by his own experience getting “catfished” by a woman he thought he was in love with, Nev Schulman and his good friend Max Joseph help other individuals across the Internet, who feel that they are dating someone who may not be who they say they are. Although Max left the show in 2018, it is still airing with former Miss Teen USA, Kamie Crawford, as the co-host.

2 The Challenge (7.6)

The Challenge began as a spin-off of the MTV hit series The Real World and Road Rules, and has been airing on the channel since 1998. Using a multitude of cast members from different reality television programs, the series splits the cast into different teams as they compete in numerous missions for a cash prize.

Each episode sees a contestant get eliminated, which follows another mission to determine who can win and stay in the competition. Like other reality television programs, when the cast is not competing, they are seen privately talking through a confessional format about events happening on the show.

1 The Challenge: All Stars (8.3)

This limited series is a spin-off of The Challenge and features the return of 22 of the most memorable contestants from past seasons to compete for a share of $500,000.

The show started as an idea that went viral on the Internet, where a user suggested a season with the “old-school” cast members coming back to become an ultimate champion. The show includes challenges, such as a Pole Wrestle, Ancient Challenge History, and a Deep Blue Dive.
