It’s hard to trace the beginning of the 90s/early-2000s nostalgia craze, but it has been going on for a long time now. Some kids who grew up watching Disney Channel and Nickelodeon are still obsessed with the shows of childhood, and that is totally normal. In fact, the new content of the last five years has overwhelmingly been shaped by the old.
With reboots, remakes, and spin-offs galore, there is a clear desire to go back to something. While it is important to keep moving forward in life, millennials had some great programming options as kids, so it makes sense to relive those favorite shows. In no particular order (because they’re all great), here are ten things to watch or listen to that will bring back happy TV memories.
10 Nick Rewind YouTube Channel and Instagram
The official Nick Rewind Instagram page and YouTube channel are fantastic places to go for a dose of old Nickelodeon nostalgia. The short-form videos and posts celebrate all kinds of vintage Nick shows, like Spongebob, Gullah Gullah Island, Kenan & Kel, and All That.
In recent news, the Instagram account shared that Nick News (originally hosted by Linda Ellerbee) was revived with Alicia Keys for a special segment called “Kids, Race, and Unity.”
9 Disney+ and Netflix
This one is the most obvious entry, but it’s true–Disney+ is the place to go for old Disney Channel content. They need to get classics like The Famous Jett Jackson, The Jersey, In a Heartbeat, and Flash Forward, but they have plenty of other great shows and beloved DCOMs. For fans who want to watch the thing itself as much as they want to learn the history of the thing, Disney+ is a great tool.
For Nickelodeon fans, Victorious and Sam & Cat are on Netflix. Nick movies are fairly common there, too, like The Rugrats Movie, Hey Arnold: The Jungle Movie, Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, A Fairly Odd Summer, and Big Time Movie. Hulu has select episodes of Drake & Josh, Rugrats, and Hey, Arnold!
8 Christy’s Kitchen Throwback
While plenty of child stars have grown up and started YouTube channels, Christy Carlson Romano’s channel is one of the most nostalgic for millennial kids’ programming. That’s because she was a huge part of the Disney scene twenty years ago with hits like Even Stevens, Kim Possible, and Cadet Kelly. Her YouTube channel is multi-faceted, but it made waves in 2019 with a new cooking show called “Christy’s Kitchen Throwback.”
The short series brings on a special guest from classic kids’ shows (usually Nick or Disney Channel), and Christy helps the guest cook a recipe related to his or her movie or series. The cooking show is on pause due to COVID-19, but Christy has been Zooming with guests for “Christy’s Throwback Reacts,” the segment where stars react to their hit shows. 7 The Things
The Things is a sister site to ScreenRant. It is also a regularly updated YouTube channel on all things pop culture, including Nickelodeon and Disney Channel.
Videos include secrets of favorite shows and facts about celebrities, like a recent upload on Disney Channel stars who also appeared on Nickelodeon (and vice versa). Check out their content for some enlightening facts on old shows.
6 Big Orange Couch
Big Orange Couch is obviously about Nickelodeon! It is a podcast specializing in the network’s golden era of shows, with recent topics including Clarissa Explains it All, The Adventures of Pete and Pete, and Hey, Arnold!
Andrew and Joey call up their friends to weigh in on different episodes, and they have special guests here and there, like “Burnin” Brian Ingalls, a champion of GUTS.
5 Back to the Best
Back to the Best is a podcast (and YouTube channel) about all the greats in 90s/early-2000s pop culture. Hosts Grace and David cover both Nickelodeon and Disney Channel (among other networks) with equal enthusiasm for Jimmy Neutron and iCarly as well as Phil of the Future and Lizzie McGuire.
They have recently had some exciting guests on the show such as Davida B. Williams and Drew Seeley. David and Grace are so excited about the shows they grew up watching, and it’s fun to hear their discussions.
4 Duff Enough
For fans who didn’t know: there is now a Hilary Duff podcast. Whitt Laxson is a superfan who goes through Hilary’s music and film career, one episode at a time.

1 The Relunchables
Jordan Holtzer provides the best DCOM podcast ever. In a market where lots of adults are saying, “let’s watch a Disney Channel movie,” Jordan takes that rewatch process to another level. He invites friends, actors, writers, and directors to discuss some of the best Disney Channel Original Movies in the library.
Films like Johnny Tsunami, Cadet Kelly, Horse Sense, and Full-Court Miracle come to life again at The Relunchables.
