The Multiverse is gracing the Marvel Cinematic Universe fully with the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Villains from both the Sam Raimi and Marc Webb worlds will be crossing over the MCU to battle with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. But Spider-Man fans will know that the character is no stranger to the Multiverse in the comics.

For those wanting to brush up on Spider-Man’s adventures in the Multiverse, there are many comics to enjoy. Some are massive crossovers of multiple Spider-People, and others are just simple glimpses into alternate realities separate from Universe-616.

Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows (2015)

In a refreshing take, Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows shows a world where Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson finally have a successful relationship. They have a daughter named Annie, and it’s within this comic that they become the Spider-Family. It’s also become one of the best comics about Mary Jane.

Mary Jane and Annie both get Peter’s powers, allowing them to become Spinneret and Spiderling. Add in the threats of the Regent, the Sinister Six, and even the Brotherhood Of Mutants; this makes for a different but well-written take that shows Spider-Man as a family man rather than his typical young adult appearance.

Spider-Men (2012)

With Miles Morales being a worthy successor in his universe, it was a shame that he could never have any adventures with Peter Parker. Brian Michael Bendis, a famous comic book writer for both Marvel and DC, took the two universes of Spider-Man and crossed them over.

Spider-Men is a simple premise, but effective. Seeing the Earth-616 Peter Parker interact with Miles Morales was a big deal at the time since the universes weren’t merged yet. The two Spider-Men proved to have a great dynamic, so much so that Bendis delivered a sequel with Spider-Men II in 2017.

Spider-Gwen: Greater Power (2016)

What likely began as a concept for a Marvel What If…? comic ended up becoming one of the most famous alternate Marvel universes. The famous Spider-Man love interest Gwen Stacy is bitten by the radioactive spider instead of Peter Parker, leading to a very similar yet different timeline.

From Peter Parker dying in her universe to Gwen AKA Ghost-Spider fighting the Vulture, Lizard, and other variants of other Spider-Man villains; Spider-Gwen is a fascinating reimagining, with this version of Gwen being the most fun she’s ever been. It even ended up spawning a series of Gwen variants such as Gwenpool and Gwennom.

Spider-Man 2099: Spider-Verse (2015)

Due to the Spider-Verse event, Spider-Man 2099 got to return home, but his troubles were far from over. Joining him in this event are Lady Spider and the Six-Armed Spider-Man for a dark cyberpunk adventure that throws all normal Spider-Man tropes out of the window.

Featuring refreshing villains such as Maestro, this crossover delivers something unique because it does not feature any of the typical Spider-People.

Spider-Women: Alpha/Omega (2016)

As a follow-up, Marvel decided to give all of the girls their time to shine with Spider-Gwen and Silk being mentored by Jessica Drew, AKA Spider-Woman. It’s not a deep story or some epic event like some other Spider-comics, but it is a fun one.

Seeing these three Spider-Women learn to work together as a team in order to stop an evil organization will put a smile on anyone’s face. If readers are looking for the best introduction to all three of these characters, Spider-Women does the job.

Venomverse (2017)

Spider-Man going across the Multiverse is a lot of fun, but fans have a soft spot for Venom. So Marvel comics introduced Venomverse, where Doctor Strange pulls Venom into a war between Venom variants and a new symbiote species called the Poisons.

This event showcased various powerful hosts of Venom from alternate worlds, including the Guardians Of The Galaxy, Captain America, X-23, and more. The new race of Poisons proves to be a dangerous threat that makes Venom’s race, the Klyntar, seem tame by comparison.

Venomized (2018)

The sequel to Venomverse, Venomized further shows just how deadly of a force the Poisons are as they invade Earth trying to consume all of Marvel’s heroes. So much happens in this story, from Spider-Man getting his iconic black suit back to the reveal of certain iconic Marvel villains being part of the attack.

If people find Venom-versions of heroes and villains scary, they will be taken aback when characters such as the Punisher and the X-Force are taken over by the Poisons.

Spider-Verse (2015)

When it comes to multiverse events for Spider-Man, easily the most famous is Dan Slott’s Spider-Verse. The title was even used for the first Multiverse movie in the form of Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. When a threat begins eliminating different Spider-People across the Multiverse, the surviving Spider-People unite.

It’s a simple enough concept that allows Marvel fans to see Peter Parker, Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, Jessica Drew, Kaine Parker, Spider-Girl, Spider-Noir, and so many more to come together. For obvious reasons, this was a huge event that made the Multiverse a now common concept in Marvel comics.

Spider-Verse: Spider-Zero (2020)

Putting the focus on Miles Morales, he is flung across the Multiverse to help out different Spider-People. In a way, it’s less of a giant event and more of an anthology of adventures for Miles Morales with a connecting storyline, but in the best way possible.

Spider-Verse: Spider-Zero features variants of Spidey from Spider-Noir to Spider-Punk to even Peni Parker. There’s still a plethora of Spider-People to enjoy while Miles provides a strong likable lead in an episodic adventure reminiscent of Quantum Leap.

Spider-Geddon (2018)

Name any Spider-Person and they are likely to be in this giant event. Morlun is back and more dangerous than ever, so a Spider-Army is assembled leading to a ridiculous yet epic crossover. Spider-Geddon could have easily bit off more than it can chew, but it pulled off being a bigger and better sequel to Spider-Verse.

One of the biggest surprises was the inclusion of Spider-Man from the Insomniac games, even featuring a running gag from Marvel’s Spider-Man. That’s the best way to summarize Spider-Geddon, it’s an explosion of fanservice while also being an event that can hook in any reader.
