The Night at the Museum franchise produced plenty of memorable characters, played by beloved actors like Dick Van Dyke, Robin Williams, Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, and more throughout the series. The franchise added more fun characters along the way, including Lancelot and even Darth Vader and Oscar the Grouch.

Larry and his friends embarked on plenty of adventures, and with those adventures came plenty of unforgettable scenes and quotes to go along with them. Audiences certainly remember the Easter Island Head’s fondness for gum and Rebel Wilson’s memorable performance as a night guard at the British Museum who fell for Laaa.

10 “Yes, Yes, Do Go Back Into The Underworld! Thank You For Coming! Goodnight!”

Octavius is understandably cheery as he says the above quote to the rapidly retreating warriors that Kahmunrah had summoned from the Underworld in the second film. Kahmunrah is naturally devastated as he’s losing his army thanks to the intimidating Abraham Lincoln statue that has managed to shoo them away, and he begs his army to remain, though they flee as quickly as they can. Octavius’s farewell is a hilarious end to an army that didn’t last long, and it was a sure sign that Larry and the rest of the good guys were bound to defeat Kahmunrah and his recruits.

9 “Listen Up, Kemosabe. This Rodeo Clown Wouldn’t Know A Flapjack From A Flyswatter.”

Jed (Owen Wilson) is a miniature cowboy, and he’s hilarious in all three films. In the second film, he whispers the above quote to his friend Octavius while they’re trapped, along with several of their friends in the Smithsonian. The “rodeo clown” that Jed is referring to is none other than General Custer (Bill Hader), who turns out to be a real asset, but initially doesn’t give the others the best first impression. There’s nothing like a good cowboy to have on the team, and Jed has plenty of witty quotes, including the one above, throughout the series.

8 “You’ll Rue The Day You Mocked Us With Your Huge Sword And Hypnotic Blue Eyes!”

Octavius seems to be enamored with Sir Lancelot, as he shouts the above quote while Lancelot is making his getaway with the tablet when they need it most in the third film. Octavius’s infatuation with Lancelot doesn’t stop there, as Jed later comments that “it really is hard not to look at” in reference to Lancelot’s melting nose, and Octavius replies with “yes, he is” obviously meaning that Lancelot himself is a sight not to be missed.

It’s pretty funny how captivated Octavius is by Lancelot, despite the fact that for a time, Lancelot was their enemy for having stolen the tablet.

7 “If You Leave Those Gates, I Swear To You, Your Hideous Doppelgänger, Who Looks A Lot Like The Lead Singer Of The Counting Crows, Will Get It!”

Rebel Wilson plays night guard Tilly at the British Museum in the third installment of the Night at the Museum franchise. Naturally, she’s a hilarious character, and up until she discovers that the magic of the tablet brings the museum exhibits to life, she’s not exactly crazy about her job. She shouts the above quote at Larry, who’s trying to catch Lancelot, as she holds a captured Laaa and waves her hammer around in a threatening manner. She gets Larry to surrender, landing him and Laaa in lock-up until they eventually escape.

6 “It’s The United States Of Don’t Touch That Thing Right In Front Of You.”

Jonah Hill plays a guard at the Smithsonian in the second film, and he’s nothing short of uproarious. He engages in an argument with Larry over not touching the exhibit, and during that argument, he says the above quote in response to Larry mentioning that he thought they lived in a free country. Hill is witty, but he’s not fast enough when Larry pulls a move on him and ultimately snatches Hill’s security key card without Hill knowing.

5 “I’ll Kiss Your Staff.”

When Larry and the rest of the gang finally reach Ahkmenrah’s parents, Larry asks if the tablet can be fixed. Ahkmenrah’s father says that in order to fix it, he’d have to reveal the secret of the tablet, and his first inclination is to keep the secret. The above quote is Larry’s response, which is hilarious as only moments before Ahkmenrah’s father had requested that Larry kiss his staff, and Larry had opted out of it.

Thankfully, the group of friends learn the secret of the tablet, and hurriedly race to ensure it gets moonlight to repair it before it’s too late.

4 “Are You Crackin’ Wise? I Oughta Punch You In The Nose, Hopscotch.”

Mickey Rooney plays the cantankerous and hilarious night guard, Gus, in the first and third films. He says the above quote to Larry in the first film just prior to Larry’s first night working in the museum. Gus is always ready for a fight, especially with Larry, whom he seems to dislike immediately upon their first meeting, calling him “lunch box”, “snack shack”, and of course, “hopscotch”, among other monikers. Gus has plenty of great lines, the one above showcasing his humor.

3 “Just Simplify. There’s Just Too Much Going On Here. You’re Evil, You’re Asthmatic, You’re A Robot. And What Is, What Is The Cape For? Are We Going To The Opera? I Don’t Think So. Sorry. Goodbye.”

Kahmunrah is definitely a memorable villain in the second installment of the Night at the Museum franchise. The above quote is his advice to Darth Vader, when he and Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street come by, hoping to join up with Kahmunrah, and are subsequently rejected and sent on their way. Darth Vader especially doesn’t seem pleased with Kahmunrah’s decision, but considering Kahmunrah ended up losing anyway, he and Oscar were better off.

2 “What Are You Staring At? Stop Looking At Me! What? Have You Never Seen A Beautiful, Attractive, Gorgeous Woman Before Who Could Be A Model If She Didn’t Love Pizza So Much? I Know What You’re Playing At, And It Ain’t Working. Not Working. Wait. It Is Kind Of Working.”

While Laaa is guarding Tilly, ensuring she stays where she is so Larry and the others can track down Lancelot and fix the tablet before it’s too late in the third film, the two share a moment. Laaa is initially pressed up against the glass, simply watching Tilly with a look of wonder in his eyes.

Tilly is initially immune to his charms, but soon succumbs to them and falls for Laaa. So much for Laaa’s charms not working.

1 “You Give Me Gum-Gum!”

The Easter Island Head, voiced by Brad Garrett, has a well-known love for gum, and calling Larry “Dum-Dum.” “Dum-Dum” isn’t the nicest nickname, but it becomes a term of endearment for Larry. This particular exchange between Larry and the Easter Island Head is one of the most memorable moments in the first film, and in the Night at the Museum franchise as a whole. Their exchanges are pretty funny, and Larry ends up bringing the Easter Island Head all the gum he can chew.
