One of the newest forms of free entertainment available to the Harry Potter franchise comes in the form of a podcast. In this podcast, celebrities take turns reading chapters from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

The podcast, named Harry Potter At Home, is available to stream on both Spotify and the podcast’s website. The first chapter was read by none other than Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe. Later chapters were read by the cast of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Bonnie Wright, Evanna Lynch, Eddie Redmayne, and more. With new celebrity readers regularly being announced, let’s check out a few other cast members we would love to see appear on Harry Potter At Home.

10 Ralph Fiennes

Ralph Fiennes has an impressive filmography, but many will recognize him as the actor who portrayed Lord Voldemort. Part of the reason Ralph was so successful in this role was his ability to manipulate his voice, making it sound sinister and ominous.

An actor this talented would bring something special to the podcast. It would be interesting to hear him craft different voices to fit the other characters. And of course, there is nothing more sinister than Lord Voldemort reading a bedtime story. As Fiennes did not get to voice Voldemort in the first film, we’d love to hear him read chapter 17.

Everyone loves Mr. and Mrs. Weasley! There is something about Mark William’s voice that just feels safe and warm and is balanced perfectly by Julie Walters’ ferocity.

Hearing Williams and Walters read a chapter from the first book together would make fans feel like a Weasley child being read to sleep by their parents. Fans have seen how easily these actors use tone to convey their emotions, from splendor to confusion to rage, and they’d love to hear them channel that same energy into Harry Potter At Home.

Jason Isaacs’s voice was so smooth as Lucius Malfoy. He commanded presence in his role and made fans want to listen to what he was saying. But Isaac’s voice isn’t only captivating in Harry Potter. The actor has actually had a number of voice acting roles.

He is the one who shepherds Harry into the wizarding world, so it makes sense that he would shepherd fans through the first story by reading a chapter from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

Draco is a character who was much more present in the books than in the films. In fact, the only films that heavily feature him were Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Fans certainly did not get enough time with Tom Felton, who stole the hearts of many teenagers. Harry Potter At Home would be a great way to give this actor another chance to shine.

3 Maggie Smith

Maggie Smith is often considered one of the most talented actresses of all time. She perfectly captivated the complexities of Professor McGonagall, seeming both stern and warm at the same time.

She has an incredible ability to separate her personal struggles from her work as an actress, remaining strong and continuing to film Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince even while battling cancer. If anyone can do a reading of the story justice, it’s Maggie Smith.

2 Rupert Grint

Rupert Grint portrayed the hilarious Ronald Weasley. While fans would love to hear him read a chapter from Harry Potter, this seems unlikely to happen. For one, Rupert shares a lot of similarities with his character Ron, and the prospect of Ron reading a book out loud to others seems unlikely.

More importantly, Rupert and his girlfriend have just welcomed a new baby girl and have asked for privacy during this time. He is likely too busy adjusting to his newest role as a father to appear on the podcast.

Rupert isn’t the only actor who shares similarities with his character. Emma Watson also has certain traits in common with Hermione. Emma Waston is brilliant and enjoys spending time reading and learning. She even graduated from Brown University with a degree in English literature.

Harry Potter At Home was born out of a desire to make the series accessible during the COVID-19 pandemic, a mission which this activist will definitely resonate and support.
