10 Coolest Powers That Lucifer Has Ranked

Over five seasons, Lucifer has established that Lucifer Morningstar has more than just the ability to find out people’s deepest desires. He uses his Archangel powers to help Detective Chloe Decker solve homicides in Los Angeles, California.

While the show has established that all angels have their own unique abilities that they specialize in, Lucifer seems to develop or showcase new abilities with each passing case. Throughout the series, Lucifer’s powers have ranged from telekinesis to reincarnation, all of which have helped him save the world and those he loves most.

10 Super-Speed

Lucifer’s super-speed can be attributed to his wings. His wings help him move faster than the speed of light. To the human eye, this speed just seems like teleportation, but most people don’t even see him quick enough to realize he has moved so quickly.

His super-speed comes in handy in the show when a trap set by one of Lucifer’s most intelligent enemies, Pierce, causes him to have to wrap his wings around himself and Chloe to protect them from gunshots. He flies them out of there as quickly as he could after his wings took a beating and when Chloe finally regained consciousness, he flew with a speed Chloe couldn’t see to face Pierce in a one-on-one showdown.

9 Enhanced Strength

In his everyday life as a consultant to the Los Angeles Police Department, Lucifer doesn’t appear to be any stronger than the average mortal. But when he gets angry, the superhuman strength he possesses can be useful in tough situations.

In season 1, Lucifer was dealing with his guilt about accusing the wrong person in a murder case that ranks as one of his worst. When they discovered it was Ty Huntley’s agent who was the real culprit, Lucifer showed his enhanced strength by throwing him out the window. He doesn’t use this ability very often with humans, but when he does, he frequently loses control and has been reprimanded by the law for being too violent with suspects.

8 Invulnerability

Being immortal can sometimes still mean getting hurt and even dying, only to be resurrected shortly after death. But for Lucifer, his invulnerability is complementary to his immortality and allows his durable angel body to not take damage the same way humans do. Bullets and most other weapons simply bounce off of him.

Chloe’s presence was eventually revealed to be his only vulnerability. While he was honest with her from the start about being the Devil, she didn’t believe him. When he finally convinced her to shoot him so he could prove he was immortal, Lucifer bled for the first time. As time passed, Lucifer learned more about how Chloe made his body vulnerable to injury and possibly death. When she finally believed him about being the Devil, she and Lucifer found that she no longer affected his invulnerability. Their close bond is why some consider Lucifer and Chloe to be the show’s best couple.

7 Angelic Attraction

The angelic attraction that lures people toward him isn’t really something he can control nor is it something all angels possess, but it is a power he uses to his advantage. This power isn’t subject to sexuality and Lucifer doesn’t bother brushing people off since he came to Earth to enjoy life.

People don’t know why they’re so carnally attracted to him, but when he isn’t using it to the advantage of getting information for a case, he usually employs it to help people to enjoy themselves. For example, Lucifer subtly convinces a withdrawn girl to plunge into the pool with him at Ty Huntley’s party.

6 Flight

Often forgotten because of his desire to avoid it is Lucifer’s status as an angel. His wings are bright white and when he finally uses them in season 3, fans are able to see exactly what his ability to fly can do. Lucifer’s wings can get him in and out of Hell, like when he retrieved Abel’s soul, and they are what pushes his speed beyond human recognition.

His wings physically reflect his inner turmoil; if things get dark, they transform into leathery bat wings. And when he felt more comfortable with himself, they returned to their original angelic, feathery brightness. He has used them to protect Chloe and fight Pierce and his henchmen.

5 Resurrection

Resurrection in Lucifer is typically portrayed as the power to bring someone back to life in their own body. Unfortunately, if someone has been dead for too long, the resurrected soul has to find the body of a recently deceased person to take over.

The first time fans see Lucifer use his resurrection ability, and the first time he used it himself, is when he brings back Abel to try and rid Cain of The Mark. Lucifer accidentally dropped Abel’s soul into another dying human and their mission failed. While it’s a useful power, resurrection is an ability that Lucifer uses sporadically as he takes his time to fully master it.

4 Deepest Desire

When Lucifer looks into someone’s eyes and asks about their deepest desire, they are compelled to tell him. He uses this ability in nearly every episode for a variety of reasons: material gain, trivial amusement, and more importantly, to solve a case.

In the first episode, he was able to get the cop to admit the truth about using his siren to avoid car traffic. He establishes that this ability is not telepathy by clarifying that he is “not a Jedi.” Rather, it’s a persuasive ability that lulls whomever Lucifer uses it on to reveal what they want to him. In some instances, what they want is to confess, which makes solving mysteries a bit easier for Lucifer than your average cop.

3 Traveling Between Dimensions

One of the more unique powers Lucifer displays throughout the latter seasons of the show is that he can jump back and forth between Earth & Hell. At the beginning of the show, Lucifer avoided Hell at all costs, and without his wings, he could only be sent there by temporarily dying.

With his wings restored and more reasons to be in and out of Hell to keep it under his control, Lucifer began traveling between the dimensions for the sake of humanity and himself. His ability to travel between dimensions protects both realms from colliding with each other and igniting a supernatural war that could destroy existence.

2 Controlling Hell

By the end of season 4, it is established that Lucifer has control over his demon subordinates and in turn, all of Hell. Lucifer holds the ultimate powers to freeze Hell and the Demons he rules. Lucifer’s Hell is made of constant loops of torture, like reliving their death or a horrible part of their life, for those residing there.

If he is in the loop he wants to change and can see the memories of the damned souls, he can rearrange or even create new ones. Lucifer can literally freeze Hell over if he so chooses.

1 Transformation

Lucifer’s devil form changes throughout the series to exemplify his inner turmoil. His red & burned look becomes more defined with spikes and giant gargoyle-like wings as he battles with himself. Eventually, Lucifer’s white wings are the only wings he has and his devil form disappears.

This power doesn’t always lend itself to doing anything specific aside from intimidation. But even though Lucifer’s “devil face” isn’t something he’s very proud of, he can manipulate how and when it appears. For instance, he can conjure his devilish visage in reflections seen by many people or just to one person. He uses this power to scare off the protestor and in the pilot episode and, in a later episode, threatens Jimmy with his devil face after he shoots Chloe.
