10 DC Heroes That Would Make Great Marvel Sidekicks

DC’s superheroes tend to be almost godlike in abilities but there are a few who would pair well as surprising sidekicks to Marvel’s top heroes.

The DC Universe sets itself apart from the Marvel landscape by featuring major sidekicks to some of the company’s most well-known heroes. If the concept was to be applied more broadly to Marvel Comics, however, there are a range of powerful crime fighters in DC who could fit the roles well.

They might thematically match with Marvel’s mightiest, or be able to learn a thing or two about this new universe from the experienced heroes. Some may very well butt heads, but ultimately these team-ups will ensure that the Marvel hero is given the maximum support and the DC vigilante is given an opportunity in a new environment.

10 Zatanna To The Scarlet Witch

Zatanna is an incredibly powerful sorceress in her own right, but no one quite matches the might and sheer potential of The Scarlet Witch. Both a magic user and a Mutant, Scarlet Witch is almost a cosmic deity, often described as Nexus Being who could destabilize reality itself.

Zatanna is continuing to hone her craft and has demonstrated that she learns extremely quickly. She’d provide great support for The Scarlet Witch and would perhaps bring some of her own knowledge from the DC Universe. She’d also learn a great deal from one of Marvel’s most dangerous Mutants.

9 Booster Gold To Wonder Man

Booster Gold is a rather comical hero in the DC Universe. No stranger to team-ups, Booster Gold is familiar to fans thanks to his long-term partnership with Blue Beetle. There is someone in the Marvel Universe who may relate to Gold’s fame and fortune though.

As an actor and celebrity himself, Wonder Man could show Booster Gold the key to success on Earth-616. Wonder Man’s physical abilities could complement Booster Gold’s futuristic technology in a unique way. There may be a little too much ego at play in this partnership for it to be great though.

8 Huntress To Black Widow

Huntress is a lethal vigilante, a skilled combatant, a vital member of the Birds of Prey, and a woman driven by vengeance for the sins of her past. There are plenty of parallels there with Marvel’s Black Widow, who carries many of the same traits as well as being a leading Avenger.

Black Widow’s training in the Red Room is a little bit superior to that of the Huntress though. What’s more, Natasha Romanoff is skilled in a wider range of combat styles and weaponry. Huntress would be able to keep up with Black Widow in battle, but could also learn a lot more about survival and mentally dealing with a tragic past.

7 Wonder Woman To Black Panther

Wonder Woman is essentially a demi-god, hailing from the Greek Pantheon led by Zeus. She is a natural leader, a mighty warrior, and is highly knowledgeable in the realms of her mythology. Black Panther shares a number of the same traits and is linked to the Panther God Bast.

With both becoming the representatives of a notable deity, Wonder Woman would make a perfect companion to Black Panther. T’Challa would be the best guide for Diana’s introduction to Wakanda and could perhaps teach the Amazonian how technology and vibranium could have a part to play in the defense of Themyscira.

6 Swamp-Thing To Doctor Strange

The fantastic Alan Moore run on Swamp-Thing defined him as the guardian of Earth in the DC Universe but the character has several mythological ties as well. As a member of the Justice League Dark, the beast is no stranger to the weird and mystical. His partnership with Doctor Strange would produce many mutual benefits.

Much like Strange has worked alongside Man-Thing in the past, he would have a deeper understanding of the swampy creature. The two could share their knowledge on the functioning of reality itself and Strange could give Swamp-Things powers a magical boost as he explores the wilderness of Marvel.

5 Martian Manhunter To Vision

Martian Manhunter was forced to flee his home planet after it was invaded and all but destroyed. With his family gone, his tragedy fuels him as he rose up the ranks to become a significant Justice League member. Vision can certainly relate to all of that heartbreak and the concept of joining a found family.

Both Martian Manhunter and Vision have had to try to adapt to their new surroundings and understand humanity on a deeper level. With similar power sets and a deep amount of wisdom between them, it’s clear that they could form an intriguing pairing.

4 Aquaman To Storm

A King, a demi-god in his own right, and a major member of the Justice League, Aquaman has had some strange friends in the past, but never a Mutant. Despite this, as an Atlantean, he understands what it takes to protect a people who have been outcast by humanity.

Aquaman’s aquatic abilities and Storm’s weather manipulation are both power sets that would work almost symbiotically together. Stronger as a unit, Storm would also bring her knowledge as the Queen of Wakanda to the table, with the comparison of two strong nations clear to see.

3 Red Hood To The Punisher

The Red Hood studied under Batman for many years, but his violent ways put him on a very different path. This is something that The Punisher can certainly understand, with both anti-heroes doing whatever it takes in their minds to rid their cities of crime.

Punisher would also warn against such behavior though and could act as a catalyst for Jason Todd to perhaps change his ways. Regardless the two would pair well in battle, with their knowledge of firearms and extensive combat experience likely resulting in many efficient and successful tactical skirmishes.

2 Harley Quinn To Spider-Man

Harley Quinn is still trying to find her way as an anti-hero after spending most of her career as Joker’s right-hand woman. Spider-Man is the quintessential hero of the Marvel Universe and is no stranger to working with and fighting against unpredictable characters with bizarre gimmicks.

If anyone could help teach Harley Quinn about responsibility, it’s Spider-Man. Whether it’s Peter Parker or Miles Morales, the comedic edge to their characters would bounce off well with that of Quinn. Each of the webheads would bring a different perspective to the table, but Quinn could learn a lot from both the younger and more experienced Spider-Men.

1 Batman To Deadpool

Batman is DC’s most well-known vigilante and has had so many notable experiences that it’s difficult to imagine him as anyone’s sidekick. When entering a new scene though Wayne knows that it’s useful to use a local tour guide who might be able to teach him about this alternate reality.

Deadpool is the complete opposite of Batman in every way, but it’s hard to argue against the hilarity that could ensue from this partnership. Batman would be the perfect straight man to Deadpool’s goofiness. Deadpool has really had a role to play in every aspect of the Marvel Universe; from the lands of monsters to the world of Mutants, the cosmic realms, and kingdoms of gods. That’s a great deal of knowledge for Batman to learn from.
