Disney has created so many memorable fictional universes and fantastical lands, many of which have had TV show spin-offs or sequels in some capacity. But there are those with storytelling potential that simply haven’t been focused on enough and deserve other narratives set within these worlds.

Whether it’s because of the characters that inhabit the place, the concept behind the universe’s design, or the popularity of the original project, these landscapes would definitely help to create rich spin-offs that would sit perfectly on the Disney+ streaming service for fans to enjoy.

Zootopia

Zootopia+ may be able to give fans what they want in regards to expanding this amazing fantasy and adventure franchise, but the spin-off TV series really should focus in on the city of Zootopia itself further. There aren’t many societies quite like this within film in general.

The animated land is full of quirky concepts that see the animals live side-by-side in various biomes. How this all came to be and how it really functions is definitely intriguing for audiences. Ultimately, while the characters deserve further narrative arcs, it’s the city itself that boasts the most potential.

Land Of The Dead

The Land of the Dead in Pixar’s Coco is full of easter eggs and secrets. There’s a functioning world in the afterlife, with its own rules, jobs, and mythical lore. The structure of this universe is quite incredible and gorgeously designed in every corner.

Not only is this visually stunning universe worthy of further small or big-screen adventures, but the vibrant landscape has so many magical aspects to it that there is a lot more fans would love to know, including how someone makes a home in this tipsy turvy city. Miguel’s journey only scratched the surface of the Land of the Dead.

Atlantis

Atlantis is a hugely underrated Disney property in need of a revival. It’s became a bit of a cult hit and that’s partially due to the mythology that was built up. The mysterious origins of this underwater city and the journey to finding it was really spellbinding.

While the sequel film leaves a lot to be desired, there are surely other pieces of history to explore throughout Atlantis. Plus, what would the outside world really do with the knowledge the Atlanteans hold? Perhaps another expedition is in order.

Olympus

Olympus is a brilliant location to set more films and TV shows in; one that was barely explored in Disney’s Hercules. Although the human, mortal world was the main setting for the movie, there’s so much more of interest in the land of the Gods.

Hercules decided he wouldn’t join his family in Olympus, but what if down the line he and Meg decided to travel there? With the new animation technologies available, there’s so much that Disney could do in bringing this mystical universe to life in a unique way.

Treasure Planet

Treasure Planet is one of the most underrated Disney movies. It might have been a box office flop, but its storytelling is top-notch and a modernized take on a classic tale. In regards to its world-building, the space-like setting is nothing short of exceptional.

It’s so detailed in its design and feels like a realistic, functioning society; full of space pirates and intergalactic cities. There are definitely other stories to be told here, perhaps from a new perspective. Hopefully, it would utilize the same stunning animation style.

Sky High

Sky High is a cult favorite because of the tremendous cast, interesting concept, and brilliant performances. The idea of a superhero school isn’t unique, but there’s a quirky quality to the way that this has been portrayed. Fans would want to see more from the high school.

The students who once attended are definitely old enough to be teachers now, so a revival on Disney+ would definitely be welcome. Ultimately superhero movies are more popular than ever, but Sky High could contribute something quite different!

Motunui

Motunui is the area that Moana lives in with her people, but she travels far out into the ocean discovering new islands and new worlds. On these travels, she came across demi-gods, mysterious monsters, unknown lands, and ultimately a goddess of the Earth.

Moana is getting a Disney+ spin-off and it should absolutely continue to expand upon this world, which is built upon real mythology. There’s a lot more to explore here in regards to the rich culture that Moana is based on and audiences would love to see this interpretation.

Kumandra

Raya And The Last Dragon goes into great detail about the land of Kumandra and the various factions within it. The whole film is about the division of these people and places, but by the end, they are brought together in a new union of peace and hope.

Fans would love to go back to this world in order to understand what it’s really like to live there now. Magic and dragons are stronger than ever with the peace that has formed, although not everyone would likely be happy with the events of the previous film.

The Mind

Inside Out showed audiences what the inside of someone’s mind might actually look like. With a control panel, multiple lands representing different aspects of personality, and characters who personify emotions; Riley’s mind was really broken down and portrayed in a unique way.

But everyone’s brain is different, so what does it look like for other people? The general setup is the same, but there are whole worlds inside of other peoples’ minds that could be made up of totally different aspects. What happens when someone gets older and how does an animal’s mind really work?

Pirate Shores

Pirates Of The Caribbean has plenty of installments, yet very few of them have taken the approach of exploring the mythology of the world from the perspective of the mythological beings themselves. Davy Jones, the undead, mermaids, and the Kraken have all been featured.

Many of these elements are treated like everyday occurrences and part of a more human plot. But there’s got to be more to the magical side of this universe. Future spin-offs could perhaps focus on the magic and legends of this universe and how they came to be.
