10 Full House Writers Who Also Worked On Disney Channel Shows

Full House seems to go hand in hand with nostalgic Disney Channel shows. That’s because sometimes the writers crossed over between the two.

The Full House fandom has not stopped in the twenty-five years since the show completed its first run. The heartwarming family sitcom has quite a legacy, including its recently wrapped reboot, Fuller House. Fans cling to the love and familiarity of the Tanners, and some watch the show regularly for laughter and comfort.

Ever notice a slight resemblance between the flavor of Full House and that of favorite Disney Channel shows? There are cases where the 90s spark can be seen in the work of the early 2000s. Here are ten Disney Channel shows with writers who also worked in the Full House writers’ room.

10 Dennis Rinsler

Dennis Rinsler’s Full House journey started in the writers’ room, but he became one of the executive producers when Jeff Franklin moved on to Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper. Dennis Rinsler and his co-executive producing partner, Marc Warren, have a reputation as “the show doctors.”

They were called in to improve The Parent ‘Hood in the late 90s, and Disney Channel then needed their help with Even Stevens. They joined the show (and The Even Stevens Movie) as executive producers, then went on to That’s So Raven and then Cory in the House in the same roles, writing for all three shows, too. Dennis recently appeared with Marc on the Even Stevens Ranked podcast, hosted by Brittany Butler and Ethan Brehm.

9 Marc Warren

Marc Warren worked with Dennis Rinsler on Full House before the two began their Disney journeys. After Dennis retired, Marc worked with Disney Channel as a consulting producer on Jonas LA and as executive producer on Kickin’ It (Disney XD) and Bizaardvark.

He ran a successful program called “Disney Channel Storytellers” for aspiring writers. He and Dennis hung out with the cast and crew of Even Stevens via Zoom for the show’s twentieth anniversary in June.

8 Laurie Parres

Laurie Parres is a writer and producer who won a Writers’ Guild of America Award for Outstanding writing on an episode of Amazon Prime’s Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street. Parres has had many exciting experiences in the television industry, including working on the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar episode of Full House (season eight’s “Air Jesse”).

She worked with Disney Channel recently as a writer and co-executive producer of Fast Layne, a show inspired by the Herbie films. Check it out on Disney+.

7 Ellen Guylas

The name “Ellen Guylas” probably looks most familiar to a big fan of Phil of the Future. Ellen Guylas was a writer and producer on the 2000s Disney Channel sitcom, but she worked on Full House before that.

Guylas joined the producing team of Full House in 1990 and saw the show through its finale in 1995. She definitely spent time in the writers’ room in the show’s later years, too.

6 Tom Burkhard

Tom Burkhard worked as a writer and producer for the last few years of Full House, but Disney Channel fans of a certain age have definitely seen his name in the credits there, too. Tom Burkhard’s first Disney Channel credits are for writing and producing Even Stevens. He then wrote for Phil of the Future while working as the show’s executive producer.

Burkhard was a consulting producer on That’s So Raven; then he created, executive produced and wrote for Disney XD’s Zeke and Luther. He also has writing and executive producing credits for Disney Channel’s Fast Layne.

5 Adam I. Lapidus

Adam I. Lapidus has seven writing credits for Full House, and he wrote and produced episodes of Phil of the Future, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, The Suite Life on Deck, Jessie, and Bunk’d.

That’s quite a resume of Disney Channel shows! Lapidus also worked on Smart Guy, which was syndicated on Disney Channel for many years and can now be seen on Disney+.

4 Gloria Ketterer & Sarit Catz

Sarit Catz and Gloria Ketterer appear to have been writing partners in the 90s. They are credited on many of the same projects, including the writing of two episodes of Full House: “I’m Not DJ” and “Designing Mothers.”

The latter is the one where Stephanie and Michelle get their epic room re-do. These writers also worked on the series Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: The TV Show. Ketterer has a writing credit for Disney Channel’s animated show Brandy & Mr. Whiskers.

3 Diana Ayers

Diana Ayers reversed the popular pattern and worked on Full House after working on Disney Channel shows. She wrote for an episode of Good Morning, Miss Bliss, the show that started on the Disney Channel and then became Saved by the Bell.

Ayers also wrote for The Torkelsons, Disney’s NBC show which was retooled as Almost Home. She has one Full House and one Step by Step writing credit, both from 1992.

2 Russell Marcus

Russell Marcus was a writer for Full House in the early days, credited on some pivotal season one episodes. Marcus continued to work as a writer and producer, and his Disney Channel claim to fame is creating the animated series Brandy & Mr. Whiskers.

The show was unique for the channel at that time, and it had a ridiculously fun online game on Disney Channel’s website.

1 Boyd Hale

After writing for David Letterman, Boyd Hale worked on Full House in the early 90s. He stayed busy into the 2000s and was a writer and executive producer for Disney XD’s Zeke and Luther.

Most recently, Hale wrote and co-executive produced episodes of Fuller House, which really brings things full circle.
