It’s always fun to get see an unexpected cameo pop up in a movie. Most of the time, the cameos center around a famous celebrity making a brief appearance. Some of the greatest include Bill Murray in Zombieland or Bob Barker in Happy Gilmore. But there are also those rare occasions when a famous movie character seems to wander into another movie.

Along with opening up the possibility of so many shared universes, these cameos are just endlessly fun to see. The brief appearances from beloved characters can be paying homage to the genre, spoofing a movie, or just some pointless fun. Check out these movie characters who popped up in other movies.

10 Jay And Silent Bob – Scream 3 (2000)

Many fans of the Scream franchise would say the third film was when the series really fell apart. The fact that Jay and Silent Bob have a random cameo in the movie is perhaps a good indicator of ridiculous things had become.

Jay and Silent Bob are the two comedic stoners who pop up in nearly all of Kevin Smith’s films. They appear in one scene in Scream 3 where they mistake Gale Weathers for Connie Chung. It is a weird inclusion but memorable nonetheless.

9 Chucky – Ready Player One (2018)

Much like the book it is based on, Ready Player One is filled with references and nods to some of the most beloved franchises and characters in pop culture history. The story is set in the future in which people enter a video game and can become these iconic characters.

While there are a lot of famous cameos, the most memorable comes during the climactic final battle when the good guys release their secret weapon, Chucky from the Child’s Play films. Hearing one terrified soldier scream “It’s f**king Chucky!” makes it all the more hilarious.

8 Chubbs Peterson – Little Nicky (2000)

Little Nicky might not be one of Adam Sandler’s most beloved movies, it does offer another hint that all of his movies are secretly connected. Sandler plays the son of the devil who must bring his devious brothers back to hell when they invade Earth.

At one point, Nicky dies on Earth and is sent up to heaven. There he meets Chubbs Peterson, the one-handed golf pro from Happy Gilmore who Happy killed after accidentally making him fall out a window.

7 Kane – Spaceballs (1987)

While Spaceballs is mostly known for its spoofing of the early Star Wars films, it actually tackles a variety of sci-fi movies from the era. In one particular scene, the heroes stop at an intergalactic truck stop where Kane from Alien is enjoying a meal with his friends.

In the middle of eating, Kane begins convulsing and his chest begins moving. Then an alien pops out of his chest and Kane groans “Not again.” We’re not sure how he managed to survive the first chest-burster, but it’s certainly a funny cameo.

6 Raymond Stantz – Casper (1995)

The live-action debut of Casper is packed with a lot of unexpected cameos from the likes of Clint Eastwood and Rodney Dangerfield playing themselves. However, it is another ghost-related cameo that is the most memorable in the movie.

As the new homeowners are trying to rid a mansion of pesky ghosts, we see Ray Stanz, one of the founding members of the Ghostbusters come running out of the house with his uniform and proton pack. He stops only to say “Who ya gonna call? Someone else” before running away.

5 John McClane – Loaded Weapon 1 (1993)

National Lampoon took on the action movie genre of the 1980s with the spoof movie Loaded Weapon. Samuel L. Jackson and Emilio Estevez star as a buddy cop duo on a zany investigation filled with silly gags.

Spoofing a moment for Lethal Weapon, the bad guys begins shooting up the hero’s home trailer, reducing it to a pile of ruddle. Finally, Die Hard hero John McClane emerges from the debris and tells the bad guys they have the wrong address.

4 Matt Hooper – Piranha 3D (2010)

Piranha 3D is a wild and entertaining creature feature that totally embraces the campy aspects of the genre. It also starts off with a great opening sequence featuring a cameo from Matt Hooper, the character from Jaws.

While he is never mentioned by name, Richard Dreyfus confirmed he was playing the same role. He is seen wearing a familiar-looking outfit and singing a familiar tune while fishing. Then suddenly his boat is attacked and Hooper is eaten by a swarm of hungry piranha.

3 T-1000 – Wayne’s World (1992)

The hilarious comedy Wayne’s World is one of the few examples of an SNL skit that was transformed into a movie and actually succeeded. Part of what makes it such a great comedy is the fact that the movie doesn’t feel the need to operate within the bounds of reality.

One of the funniest and most random moments comes as Wayne Campbell races to win back a girlfriend. He is pulled over by a cop who turns out to be the T-1000 from Terminator 2 who is apparently still looking for John Connor.

2 Doc Brown – A Million Ways To Die In The West (2014)

Seth MacFarlane is known for his frequent pop culture references in his animated comedy Family Guy. But he even infused that similar type of humor in his underwhelming Western comedy A Million Ways to Die in the West.

Though the movie itself is not particularly memorable, MacFarlane did sneak in some fun cameos. In one scene, MacFarlane’s character notices a strange glow coming from a barn. Upon investigating, he finds Doc Brown still hanging out in the Old West from Back to the Future Part III and working on his DeLorean.

1 J. Jonah Jameson – Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019)

While Tom Holland had proved himself to be a worthy successor to the title of Spider-Man, fans were wondering how the MCU would ever fund someone to play J. Jonah Jameson as perfectly as J.K. Simmons did in Sam Raimi’s trilogy. As it turns out, they didn’t even try.

The shocking post-credit scene from Spider-Man: Far From Home reveals Simmons reprising his role and establishing a connection between the MCU’s series and Raimi’s films. Though it is technically a different version of Jameson, the fact that it is still Simmons playing the role is pretty cool.
