10 LowKey Villains In Harry Potter Everyone Forgets About

In the Harry Potter series, there are many obvious villains, or even just antagonists, in the story. Voldemort is the main big bad enemy that Harry must defeat to save the wizarding world, but there are many others along the way that impede his journey including many Death Eaters. There are also other antagonists, such as Draco Malfoy, who aren’t on the same level of villainy and are more complex.

However, there are some “villains” who fly under the radar. Many of these are characters who aren’t exactly bad and can even be rather good overall, but who at times do some rather messed up things. They might react poorly to conflict, or they might be bad people that viewers often forget about.

10 Ron Weasley

Ron Weasley is mostly a hero who does a lot of brave and good things, so he’s not really a villain. However, of the trio members, he has the most antagonistic moments, and he makes some pretty big mistakes. He’s often overly jealous and insecure, and he takes these feelings out on Hermione and Harry in various ways. He doesn’t treat the girls he dates that well, and he stops being friends with Harry more than once in the series.

9 Viktor Krum

10 LowKey Villains In Harry Potter Everyone Forgets About

Viktor Krum might not be a villain exactly, but there’s something that is unlikable about him mainly after his appearance in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. While he seemed all right in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and mostly likes to keep to himself, he came across as much more arrogant and seemed to think he had a claim on Hermione because he was famous. So, he might not be a villain, but he’s not exactly likable.

8 Mundungus Fletcher

10 LowKey Villains In Harry Potter Everyone Forgets About

Mundungus is a rather unlikeable character overall, but he appears more in the books than he does in the movies. He might not be a full-on villain, but he is a criminal and thief. He starts out with the intent to do good as a member of the Order of the Phoenix, but he is careless and selfish. He ends up betraying the other Order members when he sells items from Grimmauld Place, and his carelessness is also what left Harry alone when the Dementors came to Little Whinging.

7 Xenophilius Lovegood

10 LowKey Villains In Harry Potter Everyone Forgets About

Xenophilius Lovegood is an interesting character because there are some things about him that are quite likable, but there are also many reasons to dislike and distrust him. While betraying the trio to the Death Eaters is forgivable given he was trying to save his daughter’s life, there are a couple of other issues with him that people forget about.

He’s a conspiracy theorist who has some beliefs that would give others pause for being connected to dark wizards, even if he insists he doesn’t view things that way. He also spread lies and falsehoods about the world in The Quibbler, and it’s hard to tell if he’s unhinged or dangerous.

6 Moaning Myrtle

Moaning Myrtle is a victim, but she’s also a bully. She didn’t deserve to die by any means as she was just a young teen, but she wasn’t really a good person when she was alive. She was picked on by others, but then turned around and haunted another person for the rest of their life. She also acts rather inappropriately toward Harry, and this is especially apparent in the movies.

5 Rita Skeeter

10 LowKey Villains In Harry Potter Everyone Forgets About

Rita Skeeter might not exactly be low-key in being a bad person, but she often isn’t as talked about as some of the other despicable characters in the series. This is partly because she just isn’t featured as much in the movies as she is in the books. In the books, she continually shows how sneaky and vile she can be. She only cares about writing a salacious story and has no issue with ruining people’s lives by telling lies.

4 Piers Polkiss

While Dudley might be Harry’s first, and also one of his worst, bullies, he does have a bit of a redemption arc that makes him more likable than his parents. However, for most of Harry’s life, Dudley was there to hurt him, make fun of him, and help make his life miserable. But, Dudley also had a group of friends who also bullied Harry. Dudley’s best friend was named Piers Polkiss, but he isn’t really talked about in the movies.

3 Marge Dursley

10 LowKey Villains In Harry Potter Everyone Forgets About

Marge Dursley is an obvious villain and cruel person, but her treatment of Harry is often not talked about as much because viewers only see it for a couple of scenes. However, in the books, the way she treated Harry is spelled out more clearly.

While Marge might not have lived with Petunia and Vernon, she did come to visit them on a regular basis. Whenever she did, she would mercilessly pick on Harry. She was even meaner to him than the rest of the Dursleys, and, at one point, even let her dog chase him up a tree and didn’t get him down for hours.

2 Crabbe and Goyle

10 LowKey Villains In Harry Potter Everyone Forgets About

While Draco is often talked about for his redemption arc and complicated level of villainy, Crabbe and Goyle tend to fly under the radar. They are arguably much worse than Draco in the end. They become powerful dark wizards under the tutelage of Amycus and Alecto Carrow, and they enjoy hurting other students. Unlike Draco, they seem to get a real taste for the cruelty, and despite showing this in the final book, fans don’t often realize this because they aren’t really shown much in the movies.

1 Argus Filch

Argus Filch is a character that might be easy to pity if he wasn’t so cruel. His plight as a squib is rather sad, but he absolutely hates the students at Hogwarts. They hate him in return because he is so strict and prone to getting people in trouble over nothing. And, he also went along with Umbdrige and was happy to see the students be physically tortured. Filch is a rather twisted character, but his nastiness is often forgotten because he’s rather pathetic.
