10 Most Powerful Eternals Who Aren’t In The Movie

Many powerful Eternals like Sersi and Ikaris star in the new movie, but others from the comics were left out, including Thanos’ father.

Eternals features some of the most powerful superheroes so far seen in the MCU, such as Sersi and Ikaris. The combined power of the Eternals in the movie is extraordinary, but there are many more powerful Eternals from the comics who didn’t appear in the film.

Some of them are even more powerful than the Eternals in the MCU and potentially rank among the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe. It’s likely that a few of these characters will appear in the MCU sooner rather than later, thanks to events at the end of the new movie.

Domo

Domo is the name of the massive starship in which the Eternals arrive in the MCU, but in the comics, he’s actually a character. Domo debuted in Eternals #5 from 1976. Like the rest of the Eternals, he’s immortal and cannot be killed. His power beyond immortality seems equal to that of all other Eternals, including strength, speed, and stamina. He was mostly seen in his capacity as the chief administrator of Zuras and he appears often in a floating chair, not unlike Metron, another Jack Kirby creation from New Gods, one of Kirby’s most essential DC Comics works.

Uranos

Uranos is one of the oldest Eternals and one of the most powerful. Originally, Uranos was like every other Eternal, i.e., immortal and gifted with superhuman strength, speed, and endurance. A new version of him, Uranos the Undying, is set to appear in the upcoming Eternals: The Undying miniseries. This version appears to have more power, being labeled as “omnigenocidal.” Uranos is the uncle of Thanos, and spearheaded a civil war against other Eternals that ultimately exiled him on Titan, the birthplace of Thanos in the comics and MCU.

Valkin

Valkin, like the majority of most ancient Eternals, is beyond powerful. He is immortal, can teleport, and can also fly. What sets him apart from his superhuman brethren is his superior strength, which was on full display in a battle against Thor in Thor Annual #7, a comic that helped advance the Eternals mythology. Valkin was able to fight Thor on his own, indicating his might was equal to the Asgardians. Valkin is also a brilliant military strategist and was key in the many battles against the Deviants over the millennia.

Virako

Virako is the brother of Valkin and the father of Ikaris. Virako’s powers mirror that of his people. The leader of the Polar Eternals clan is a telepath, can cast illusions, and transmute matter on a molecular scale. He is distinguished from the others and particularly his brother by being even stronger than him.

He proved his extraordinary strength against Thor, but after they settled their differences, Virako turned his attention to their mutual enemy, the Dromedan, a terrifying creation of the Deviants.

Mentor

Mentor is also known as A’Lars, the father of Thanos, one of the most powerful supervillains in the Marvel Universe, A’Lars possesses all the attributes of the Eternals, including immortality, stamina, and speed. His leadership skills set him apart from others, and he led a faction of Eternals to Titan in the aftermath of the bloody civil wars that defined their early history. Mentor believed in expanding the knowledge and power of the Eternals beyond the Celestials’ intent, a fact that likely contributed to the greed of his son.

Aurelle

Aurelle has extraordinary power. Somewhat like Sersi, she is able to manipulate matter and energy. Aurelle, who first appeared in New Eternals: Apocalypse Now #1 in 2000, can transmute other objects and people on the molecular level, as well as herself. She is often rendered as a being of pure energy, becoming flame or electricity. Along with that, she can fly and teleport vast distances across space. This makes her somewhat comparable in power to some of the most powerful versions of Captain Marvel from the comics.

Hyperion

Comic book fans likely know Hyperion is one of the most powerful members of the Squadron Supreme. They may not know he’s actually an Eternal as well. Virtually invulnerable, able to manipulate matter on a cosmic scale, and able to fire devastating atomic beams from his eyes, Hyperion is extremely powerful in any universe he sets foot in. Hyperion originated on the alternate world of Earth-712, where he is the last surviving member of the Eternals in that reality. He has since crossed over to Earth-616.

Overmind

The Overmind, also known as Grom, is an Eternal from the planet Eyung. He has all the standard powers of the Eternals, which are vast and extraordinary, but he also has a broad array of psionic abilities that set him apart from his kind. Grom can channel his telekinetic energy into physical strength, exponentially increasing his power.

He can read and control minds and is able to do so with relative ease against some of the most powerful superheroes like the Fantastic Four. He can also generate crippling telekinetic blasts that can be deadly.

Zuras

Zuras is the original leader of the Eternals and the architect of their civilization on Earth. His powers were akin to those of all other Eternals, but he was the first and only of his kind to establish the Uni-Mind. This telepathic link connected all Eternals and harnessed their powers at once, creating an all-powerful force with few peers in the cosmos. As seen in the movie, the Uni-Mind is able to compete with the truly awesome and cosmic power of the Celestials, the beings that created Zuras and the rest of the Eternals millions of years ago.

Kronos

Kronos is one of the most powerful cosmic beings in the Marvel Universe. In addition to the standard complement of Eternals powers and abilities, Kronos also possesses cosmic awareness, which puts him on a level with a being like The Watcher. As his name suggests, Kronos also has some power over time. He can merge with time and control it in some ways, though the true limits of this have yet to be established. Kronos can also communicate with the dead and in some cases bring them back to life.
