The latest trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home confirmed for fans that The Lizard from The Amazing Spider-Man movie starring Andrew Garfield is returning. This version of Dr. Curt Connors is not the only one that has been seen in Spider-Man movies, and there are even more powerful versions of the classic villain throughout the multiverse in Marvel Comics.
While many of the comic versions of The Lizard share the same basic abilities, some have key differences that distinguish them from others. Some of them have inspired the movie version of the character, and could potentially inspire other iterations that may appear in the expanding multiverse of the MCU.
10 Earth-616
Comic books fans know The Lizard is one of the best Spider-Man villains, first appearing in The Amazing Spider-Man #6 in 1963. He’s also one of the most powerful. The Lizard not only had superhuman strength and speed but was extremely durable due to his thick, scaly hide.
On top of his durability, his ability to regenerate after injuries made him very hard to injure or incapacitate. Dr. Curt Connors also had the ability to communicate with other reptiles telepathically, and in some cases, command them to do his bidding.
9 Renew Your Vows
There are two versions of The Lizard in Earth-18119, the reality of the Renew Your Vows comic book storyline. Both Dr. Curt Connors and his son William share the same powers as the Earth-616 version, including micro-scales on their hands and feet that allow them to stick to surfaces like some real-world lizards.
William Connors looks closer to an iguana in appearance than his father, and in this version of events, struggles to maintain his human persona much more than Dr. Connors, an inverse of the Earth-616 dynamic.
8 Peter Parker Lizard
One of the most powerful versions of The Lizard is also one of the most powerful alternate versions of Spider-Man. In Earth-65, the native reality of Spider-Gwen, Peter Parker becomes The Lizard. He gains all the powers and abilities of the classic villain, including razor-sharp claws. These allow him to continue crawling up walls, despite the fact he wasn’t bitten by a radioactive spider.
Peter Parker’s native intelligence also plays a huge factor in his developing The Lizard formula on his own and without any of the education or experience that Dr. Connors needed to create his. This makes him potentially even more dangerous than Connors.

The version of The Lizard from the 1602 alternate reality in the comics has essentially the same powers as the original, but developed his Lizard formula from dinosaur eggs, giving him the look and physical attributes of the Velociraptor.
While The Lizard has superhuman strength and speed as a baseline, the Velociraptor likely exceeds this by being able to run up to 40 miles per hour, as well as bite through scaly hides and solid bone.
6 Billy Connors
Billy Connors is the son of Dr. Curt Connors who possesses all the powers and abilities of his father. These include superhuman agility and reflexes, making him as fast and deadly as the original Lizard. He was distinguished from his father in that Billy could retain his agency in Lizard form, something Curt Connors always struggled to do.
Billy Connors acquired his powers when he was injected with the same special Lizard formula that his father developed and used on himself, after a series of tragic events that included Billy developing cancer.

The Earth-1610 version of The Lizard from the Ultimate Comics universe is generally the same in terms of abilities and powers as his 616 counterpart, including having a long tail he uses as a weapon. The Lizard can whip his reptilian tail so hard and fast he can shatter concrete, or break bones, making close-quarters combat with him very dangerous.
This iteration of the character is distinguished from the others in his intelligence. While all the versions are generally very intelligent, the Ultimate Curt Connors knew no bounds in dangerous science. This led him to accidentally create the Ultimate Carnage symbiote.
4 Lizard-Ock
The version of The Lizard in Captain America And Black Widow #639 is also one of the most powerful versions of Doctor Octopus. This form of the character, known as Lizard-Ock, resides in Earth-12128. He possesses all the powers of The Lizard as well as the mechanical tentacles of Doctor Octopus, giving him even greater offensive capability.
This variant of the character ultimately used his considerable powers for good. After being freed of his brainwashing by Captain America and Black Widow, he joined them in fighting the Vennema Multiversal.
3 The Lizard King
The Lizard King is a version of the character from the Old Man Logan universe, one of the darkest future timelines in Marvel Comics. On Earth-807128, The Lizard rules over a vast section of Florida, where Spider-Man originally discovered him pursuing his dangerous serum. His power and influence are far greater in this reality than in any other.
The Lizard King is also using his formula on the many citizens of his kingdom, ostensibly healing their injuries and other ailments. Because of his ability to control other reptiles, the presence of the serum in other people potentially makes them susceptible to his control.
2 Exiles
Martha Connors is just one of the versions of The Lizard from Earth-21117, visited in Exiles #17 in 2002. That’s because this version has the ability to infect others with the serum that makes her into The Lizard. The infection operates somewhat like a zombie virus, with each newly infected host transmitting the Lizard physiology to another.
Since the Lizards were able to procreate, they quickly multiplied even further, resulting in The Lizards controlling much of the United States in this dark alternate reality.
1 Marvel Zombies
The Lizard’s ability to regenerate and heal from almost any injury makes him one of the most dangerous Spider-Man villains. Perhaps the most powerful variant is the one that can’t die. In the Marvel Zombies universe, The Lizard is infected by the zombie virus rampaging Earth, as nearly all other heroes and villains are in the original Robert Kirkman comic.
Unable to die but retaining all of his intelligence and superhuman powers, this version of The Lizard is beyond dangerous. He was only defeated by the cosmic power of Galactus in Marvel Zombies #4.
