10 Most Wholesome First Dates In Grey’s Anatomy

Grey’s Anatomy has had a ton of romances in its history. Whether the couples stayed together or broke up, a few had some adorable first dates.

In Greys Anatomy, love tends to outshine medicine but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. There is nowhere else where colleagues hook up more than in Seattle. Even though every character has dated more than one person, not every relationship has gone well. Some were destined to fail as they started with very bad first dates.

Mark hooking up with Addison then getting caught by Derek? That wasn’t so good. Meredith crying in the middle of her intimate date with George? That was quite sad to watch too. However, the gloom has been less than the good times as there have been plenty of memorable first dates too that made viewers wish they were in the characters’ shoes.

10 Cristina And Owen

Owen was Major Hunt at first and Cristina was totally blown away. The army doctor first arrived at Seattle Grace in an ambulance and Richard ordered Cristina to take care of Major Hunt after noticing his bleeding leg. What better way to woo a fellow doctor than to perform an emergency tracheotomy with a pen?

Major Hunt went on to staple his own leg without using anesthesia, something Cristina considered totally badass. And when Cristina was impaled by a falling icicle later in the day, Major Hunt rescued her and carried her inside like he was Clark Kent and she was Lois Lane. The day concluded with the two kissing.

9 Meredith And Finn

Even Meredith herself confessed that her first date with the veterinary doctor Finn Dandridge was great. When he first asked her to go out with him, she declined but she later showed up at his office to tell him that she was ready to date him.

Finn had an errand to run, so he invited her to come along if she wished. She thus accompanied him to a stable where she watched him help a horse give birth. She found this to be totally cool and decided to help. He then invited her back to his place and importantly, he respected her wishes not to have sex on the first date.

8 April And Matthew

April and Matthew have had a roller-coaster relationship. Jackson ruined their wedding by confessing his love for April in front of everyone but they later reunited.

Their first date was great too. After initially refusing his advances, April agreed to eat burritos with Matthew inside an ambulance. Minutes later, Matthew got an emergency call involving a hit-and-run victim. April decided to accompany him and the two alternated between saving the victim’s life and bonding.

7 Teddy And Alison

Teddy’s bisexuality wasn’t known until it emerged that she dated a woman named Allison. They met when Allison nearly hit her with her bike. Allison apologized and took Teddy to a coffee shop where she bought a bagel. The two flirted, with Allison even asking Teddy to move in with her.

The date happened at around the same time Teddy was mourning her mother. She and Allison began seeing each other but Teddy ended up suffering another tragedy. Allison was killed during the 9/11 attacks as she had been working in the South Tower of the World Trade Center.

6 Arizona And Lauren Boswell

As one of the external doctors with special privileges, Dr. Lauren Boswell came to Grey Sloan Memorial to perform surgery on an infant with a brain problem. During that time, she and Arizona developed a crush on each other. They confessed to looking each other up on the internet and admiring one another.

As the superstorm started, Boswell asked Arizona to show a room where she could rest. When Arizona extended an arm for a goodbye handshake, Boswell hugged her instead. They ended up kissing as the lights flickered during the storm.

5 Derek And Meredith

The best couple in the series also had a rather interesting first date. The two met at Emerald City Bar aka Joe’s, where Derek did his best to seduce her. She was hesitant at first but she eventually gave in to his charms.

Ultimately, the two ended up sleeping together. In the morning, there was some awkwardness but Derek made sure to make small talk. His actions proved that what happened wasn’t just a one-night-stand to him. He wanted to know her better. Even though Meredith continued playing hard to get, he pursued her until she agreed to date him.

4 Jo And Chris

The series focused more on Jo’s relationship with Alex as well as her abusive marriage to Paul but she also had another lover a long time ago. Jo once confessed about her first boyfriend Chris Cleaver.

Back when she was in high school, she used to live in her car. One day. a tow truck driver attempted to tow away her car but concerned Chris felt bad for her and paid the driver to leave it alone. They then kissed and spent the rest of the day together. Jo eventually ruined the relationship by driving away to another state without a goodbye.

3 Lucy And Alex

There was a lot of hostility between Lucy and Alex at first because he mistakenly referred to her as a nurse. When he apologized and asked her out in an elevator, she refused. After that, Alex felt totally intimidated by her, even though Lucy kept hoping he’d ask her out one more time.

Choosing to focus more on his work, Alex chose to live in a trailer next to the hospital so that he’d be arriving to work first and have a better chance of being Chief Resident. Tired of waiting, Lucy showed up at his trailer and the two proceeded to have drinks. They then bonded before sharing a kiss.

2 Callie And Erica

Callie and Erica’s first date is an important one because it’s what made Callie discover her sexuality. After noticing how close the two were, Mark kept urging Callie to try dating Erica.

Callie eventually approached Erica and kissed her. Though Callie was confused at first about her newfound sexuality, she soon became addicted to Erica, with the two being good together until Erica quit.

1 Winston And Maggie

Winston developed a crush on his superior, Maggie Pierce on the very first day of his residency. He dilly-dallied in asking her out and she eventually left for Boston. Winston thought his chance was gone but then he met her at a conference.

There, they had a great date which culminated in them getting intimate. After being in a long-distance relationship for a long time, Winston moved to Seattle to be closer to her. He proposed and they soon got married.
