When audiences walk into an action-packed, CGI filled, cheeseball movie, they typically aren’t going to be paying too much attention to the story. That’s perfectly fine, as every now and then, a mindless film is what everyone needs. Until that is, the mindless film becomes a franchise. Then, the flaws begin to become more obvious.

With these flaws come plot holes, gaps in the storyline that make little sense. So, what is one series that has some of the biggest plot holes out there? The Fast And The Furious, an action franchise with plot holes the size of sinkholes and moments so bad, they can be considered good.

10 “Daddy’s Gotta Go To Work.”

There are scenes in the Fast & Furious series that go beyond just being plotholes. They just don’t make sense at all sometimes. For instance, after getting blown up and sent to the hospital for a short amount of time, Agent Hobbs sees Dom and his crew under fire.

So, what’s the logical thing a recently hurt soldier does? He literally flexes through his arm cast. After surviving a thirty-foot drop. Even though he may be the Rock, that still doesn’t explain his almost dues ex Machina moment.

9 Owen Shaw’s Return

There’s always a tricky slope to navigate when trying to bring back a character into a series. Sometimes, it works out. Other times, not so much. The latter of this slippery slope can be seen with the return of the villain character, Owen Shaw.

In the Fate Of The Furious, Deckard Shaw sneaks onto Cipher’s plane to save Dom’s baby with the help of his brother. The big question though is… how? How did Deckard get in touch with his brother so fast? And wasn’t Owen going to prison for his actions in the sixth movie?

8 Letty’s Survival

Perhaps one of the biggest questions surrounding the Fast series derives from certain characters’ survival. Even though there are some moments when major characters do die, there are moments where the writers have decided to resurrect them. A prime example being Letty.

In the fourth film of the series, seen as a soft reboot, Dom’s girlfriend Letty dies off-screen in a car crash. Yet, in the sixth film, Letty returns and her death is glanced over because of some shoddy reasoning. On the bright side, it did give actress Michelle Rodriguez some of her best films.

7 Superhumans

It goes without saying that the Fast series can get pretty out of hand really quick. Whether it be over the top car chases or massive stunts, the series is always pushing its limits but can also go way too far like with the notion of superhumans.

In the spinoff Hobbs And Shaw, the Fast series gets really out of hand with the main villain Brixton, whose been equipped with enhancements and abilities that are never really explained. He also seems to be part of the terrorist organization, Eteon, but not much is known about them either. Fans are hoping to get the answers they want soon.

6 Why Can’t We Be Friends?

Every now and then, a villain could use a redemption, a moment when they’re malicious past is pushed aside for a chance for them to become villains. That… shouldn’t have been Deckard Shaw. At least, not right away.

See, after killing one of the crew’s closest friends, Han, in the seventh film, Shaw all of a sudden becomes a reluctant ally in the eighth. He then went on to become an anti-heroic character in the spinoff. The transition happens so fast and without warning that it feels a little awkward.

5 Gap In Time

When spacing out a series across nearly twenty years, there’s going to be some gaps that pop up. Given that the fast series began back in 2001 and is still going, it’s okay that there are some discrepancies – but only to an extent.

When Tokyo Drift came out in 2006, it seemed like the movie was separating from the others. However, the writers end up incorporating these events into the narrative by stating the events of the movie took place after Fast & Furious 6. Many people have stated that this has caused a discrepancy since the movie features period-technology, such as the flip phones and laptops.

4 Tej And Hacking

Any movie needs a guy in the chair. A person who can hack their way into anything and be the tech support for the heroes to use. Of course, the guy in the chair isn’t always the most realistic of hackers, and Tej fits the bill perfectly.

An intelligent hacker who helps the crew on their jobs and missions, Tej does have some intriguing tech knowledge… that just goes too far all the time. Too many times, he’s hacking powers seem godlike and impossible instead of just being in the realm of realism.

3 Elena’s Pregnancy

Pregnancies are weird. That’s not just from a movie perspective either. Pregnancies in and out of movies are a combination of being a beautiful and bizarre experience for one to go through. Films only make it stranger plotwise.

In the eighth Fast movie, it’s revealed that Elena, Dom’s one time FBI lover, had his child. However, that also begs a few questions: how did she keep the child a secret for so long? When did she have it? And was she carrying when Deckard blew her and Hobbs out a building?

2 Invincible Cars

Is it possible that at some point down the road, Dom’s crew got their hands on some Virbanium or Adamantium and attached the metal to their cars? It’s really the only logical explanation for how the cars have held up so well over the years.

As audiences know, these cars have survived some of the most insane damage possible, from car crashes to dragging safes, to going toe to toe with tanks to even jumping a sub. Yet, half the time, they only end up with some scratches on them. Dom’s Charger has survived quite a lot of damage over the years.

1 The Laws Of Nature

Technically, the laws of nature shouldn’t be considered a plot hole. After all, how can they? Well, when an action series like Fast & Furious defies said laws time again, those things begin to create a small rip in the story. A rip that can become a massive hole.

From flying between buildings with a car to dragging a safe through the streets of Rio in the definition of “a one last job,” these discrepancies in the movie build and build until they affect the plot on a massive scale.
