The world of Pokémon is vast and full of fun and mystery. However, for every cute Pikachu, there’s a terrifying Mr. Mime that will leave you traumatized if you spend too much time with it. Consequently, while some Pokémon may be adorable little creatures, others can be huge, aggressive beasts that, if provoked, would leave someone wishing they were locked in a cage with a tiger instead.

This article will list 10 terrifying Pokémon that even Tiger King would struggle to contain (excluding legendaries, as there’s far too many terrifying legendaries).

10 Charizard

Charizard is one of the most popular Pokémon of all time, so the inclusion of this species will certainly lead to raised eyebrows from some readers. However, even the most staunch Charizard fan would have to agree that it would be incredibly difficult to keep a fire type as a pet.

Not only is Charizard a big dragon with a huge wingspan, but the Pokémon also has a flaming tail and is capable of breathing fire. Good luck getting home insurance if you have Charizard as a pet.

9 Gyarados

Gyarados is a pretty terrifying Pokémon by any standard. The giant sea monster has incredibly hard scales, sharp teeth, and a stare that could make a White Walker’s blood freeze.

It isn’t only its natural features that make this Pokémon so terrifying. The creature also possesses a horrific temperament, with some Gyarados being prone to rages that last days.

8 Beedrill

This one should be pretty clear cut. Even in the real world, wasps are terrifying. Having a wasp in the house (or the car) is one of the scariest and most nerve-wracking experiences, but imagine if that wasp was three feet tall?

Essentially, Beedrill is a three-foot-tall wasp, and no one would want this as a pet. Not only would the noise be irritating, but the untrustworthiness of the wasp would induce anxiety in even the bravest people.

7 Mr. Mime

Clowns are terrifying. This is one of the few things humanity seems to have reached an almost blanket consensus on. It should come as no surprise, then, that the horrifying Mr. Mime would make this list.

While not a clown in the strictest sense, the Pokémon has all the scariest features of a clown as well as powerful psychic abilities to make it even more intimidating. Imagine waking up in the night to see this stood over the bed.

6 Parasect

Aside from being a creepy mushroom insect, the casual observer might not be too intimidated by Parsect. Sure, it’s a giant bug, but it’s nothing that can’t be handled. However, there’s one fact about Parasect that would creep out anyone.

Parasect isn’t actually the buglike creature, it’s the mushroom. The mushroom is a parasitic organism that infects the bug and transforms it into a Parasect.

5 Magcargo

Magcargo may not look very intimidating and, if anyone’s tried to use a Magcargo in the games, they’ll know that its stats aren’t particularly intimidating either. Although, perhaps this little fire snail has been cheated out of good stats.

Magcargo’s Pokédex entry states that this little guy can reach temperatures of up to 10,000 °C, making this little fire snail hotter than the sun. No one would want to let a Magcargo near the curtains or any other in-home flammables.

4 Muk

This is another entry that could’ve been easily predicted. When it comes to Pokémon, no one really wants a grimy, slimy, smelly Pokémon as a pet. Not only will it make the house smell bad, but it will also reflect badly on it’s owner – people would certainly judge someone for keeping one of these as a pet.

Not only does it stink to high heaven, but Muk’s body is also made up of deadly poison. Apparently, this can even cause some people to faint.

3 Espurr

To the casual observer, this Pokémon seems like it would make an adorable pet. An Espurr resembles a kitten and has one of the cutest appearances in all of Pokémon, so who wouldn’t want to pet this little guy?

That being said, appearances can be deceiving. While Espurr is undoubtedly adorable, it also possesses a powerful level of psychic energy that it has yet to master. As a consequence, Espurr is prone to uncontrollably releasing bursts of psychic energy.

2 Rotom

Rotom is a ghost type Pokémon, which makes it a bit unnerving to start off; sure it might be cute, but it’s still the spirit of a dead creature. What makes this Pokémon so annoying, though, is its hobby of possessing different household appliances.

Not only is this annoying, as it’s owner may return home from work one day to find their washing machine levitating, but it will also be incredibly expensive. Pulling electrical appliances out of the wall is certain to require repairs or replacements at some stage.

1 Snorlax

Some people might not have expected the adorable Snorlax to appear on this list. He’s a big soft creature that tends to sleep a lot, all anyone has to do is be careful when waking him and make sure he’s fed, right?

This isn’t as easy as it sounds. Snorlax is a massive unit and is said to eat over 900 pounds of food a day. While the Pokémon itself may not be too terrifying, its food bill may be the scariest thing on this list.
