10 Roles That Margot Robbie Slayed

Margot Robbie is an Australian actress that has been a powerful force on the big screen since 2013. With two upcoming movies, Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood (starring beside Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio) and Birds of Prey (a Harley Quinn spin-off), this list is throwing it back to her 10 best roles. Margot Robbie is a Hollywood chameleon, and she definitely isn’t afraid of costuming up with big gowns or a full face of makeup. Regardless the role, this woman absolutely slays each of them. With seven nominations by the Academy Awards, Golden Globes, BAFTAs, and SAGAs, here are her ten best roles, from oldest to newest.

10 Naomi Lapaglia: The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)

10 Roles That Margot Robbie Slayed

This Oscar nominee is directed by the brilliant Martin Scorsese, which is based on the true story of Jordan Belfort as he rises from a stock-broker to a life of crime and corruption. This bio-crime drama has Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill, Matthew McConaughey, and of course, the beautiful Margot Robbie. Naomi is Belfort’s wife, and is attracted to wealth and a lavish lifestyle. We’re all picturing the scene where Margot puts her high heel on Leo’s chest, and we’re applauding her ability to absolutely slay this role as the seductive and brilliant Naomi Lapaglia.

9 Jess: Focus (2015)

10 Roles That Margot Robbie Slayed

This film centers on Nicky, played by Will Smith (you can see these two hit it off again in Suicide Squad!), who is a conman. He comes across Jess, who wants to become a part of the world, and Nicky shows her the ropes and the two take on a huge con.

This movie is actually pretty interesting, and you’ll definitely feel conned by the end. Prepare yourself for a brilliant Will Smith and a powerful and intelligent femme fatal, Margot Robbie. We’re not giving anything away, but for a Hollywood film, we DEFINITELY didn’t see that end coming.

8 Margot Robbie/Herself: The Big Short (2015)

10 Roles That Margot Robbie Slayed

While Margot Robbie has a very minuscule role in this bio-crime drama, it’s honestly the point in time where everyone watching learned her name and prayed for it to be in lights a hundred times more. This film follows a group of investors during the 2006 house market crash, with Ryan Gosling, Christian Bale, and Steve Carell. Margot’s role is quite simply to explain in plain English what exactly is going on in the economy, all the while sipping champagne and lounging in a huge bubble bath. Need we say more?

7 Jane Clayton: The Legend of Tarzan (2016)

10 Roles That Margot Robbie Slayed

This live-action Disney remake was obviously a must-see for that reason alone, but this film definitely took a darker turn and created a pretty impeccable film. While it’s the typical story of Tarzan, this film dives deeper into the issue of colonization and preservation of wildlife.

Margot Robbie plays the compassionate and adventurous Jane, co-starring with the brilliant Alexander Skarsgard as Tarzan. These two are enough to watch this film, trust us.

6 Harley Quinn: Suicide Squad (2016)

10 Roles That Margot Robbie Slayed

We all know the bells and whistles of this DC film. The government enlists a squad of criminals (aka super-villains) to act as a defensive task force to help save the world from an apocalypse. While we’re not going to rave too much about this movie, as the debate has already been exhausted regarding the merit of it as a film, we will commend the entire squad for their characters and acting thereof. Harley Quinn has become quite literally an iconic femme fatal symbol (like honestly, how many Harley Quinns do you see every Halloween?) and we quite frankly could not think of a single person better equipped for the role than Margot. Movie aside, she definitely deserves a standing-o.

5 Tonya: I, Tonya (2017)

10 Roles That Margot Robbie Slayed

While an Oscar nominee, this film is still so underrated and had way too small of a theatrical release. Nominated for Best Picture, Margot Robbie was also nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her brilliant portrayal of Tonya Harding. Tonya is a competitive ice skater who is trying to rise among the ranks at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships.

However, her backstory is tragic at best, and she’s more than a little rough around the edges. If that isn’t intriguing enough, her career is thrown into jeopardy once her husband intervenes and an FBI investigation breaks out. This film is STUNNING in its direction, story, and acting, and you MUST give it a chance.

4 Daphne Milne: Goodbye Christopher Robin (2017)

10 Roles That Margot Robbie Slayed

This movie is another classic that offers us a live-action depiction of our favorite childhood characters, Winnie the Pooh and Christopher Robin. The film focuses on the writer, AA Milne, and his son, Christopher Robin, and how their bond inspired Milne to create Winnie the Pooh. Margot Robbie plays the wife, Daphne Milne, and instantly adapts to the role of a beautiful housewife. This tale is a brilliant one to be told, and the entire cast did an incredible job.

3 Audrey: Slaughterhouse Rulez (2018)

10 Roles That Margot Robbie Slayed

less-than-popular film takes place in a British boarding school, which becomes a battleground when a huge sinkhole appears nearby and unleashes an incredible horror. This movie centers around the students, played by Finn Cole (you may know him from Animal Kingdom or Peaky Blinders), Asa Butterfield (quite the famous kid) and Hermione Corfield.

This movie doesn’t have the best reviews, and has been compared to a bad Harry Potter film, but it has a cult-following and is a fun watch. While Margot has another small role in this one, this small-release film is definitely better for it.

2 Queen Elizabeth I: Mary Queen of Scots (2018)

10 Roles That Margot Robbie Slayed

This film was also missed by the Academy, but was nominated for a few minor awards. This history biography drama follows Mary Stuart (Saoirse Ronan) as she attempts to overthrow her cousin, Queen Elizabeth I (Margot Robbie). She is faced with years of imprisonment, resulting in a pretty incredible piece of drama and royalty. Honestly, just looking at a picture of these two powerhouse women in their costumes is enough to make us watch this film.

1 Allison Wells: Dreamland (2019)

This drama thriller is another movie that faced a pretty small release, but it still managed to score an 8.2/10 on IMDb. After a devastating drought and with his family’s farm on the line, this film follows a teenager’s adventure as a bounty hunter, and is filled with a bunch of drama and twists. The main character, Eugene Evans, is also played by Finn Cole. Again, Margot’s costume and total envelopment in this role is enough to applaud her. This movie isn’t on the top of anyone’s radar, but its worth the watch for its old-fashioned spirit and drama.
