10 Things We Want To See In The Reboot Of 90210

Now that the Beverly Hills, 90210 reboot has aired one episode, fans can see that it’s not a fictional continuation of the story from where the series finale left off. Instead, the new show finds the actors playing themselves (although a bit wilder and definitely more miserable) as they come to terms with how long it’s been since they were on the original teen drama.

The show is meta, campy in tone, and good old-fashioned guilty pleasure fun for those who have been waiting to see everyone back together again. There are only going to be six episodes. Here are 10 things that we want to see in the reboot, BH90210.

10 What Really Happened With Shannen Doherty?

10 Things We Want To See In The Reboot Of 90210

Since Brenda Walsh is such a big part of the first few seasons of Beverly Hills, 90210, no one would have thought that the character would leave. She and her family move to the rich area in the pilot and make friends, find romance, and deal with teenage issues. But people have been saying that the actress who played Brenda, Shannen Doherty, had some behind-the-scenes turmoil and tension with the other cast members, and that’s why she left the series after season four.

We would love to know what really happened with Shannen Doherty, and it would be cool if the reboot talked about this. Even if it was just mentioned briefly, it would be great to put those rumors to rest and know what went down.

9 The Cast Should Share Memories Of Luke Perry

Before sitting down to watch the first episode of BH90210, fans knew that there would be some kind of tribute to Luke Perry, the late actor who played bad boy Dylan McKay and tragically passed away in March 2019. When Gabrielle Carteris, who played Andrea Zuckerman says, “I can’t believe that we are all here,” Jason Priestley (the actor behind loveable Brandon Walsh) says, “I wish that were true.” (Cue the tears for every fan of not only 90210 but also the talented Luke Perry who left us way too soon.)

At the end of the episode, Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling are watching an old episode of the show and the camera cuts to Brandon and Dylan driving in a car together. Onscreen, it says, “For our friend Luke Perry” with the dates of his birth and death. The reboot should also include the cast sharing memories of Luke Perry. That would be so moving and sweet.

8 A Tori Spelling/Brian Austin Green Romance

10 Things We Want To See In The Reboot Of 90210

In the first episode of BH90210, Tori Spelling’s character mentions that “life imitiated art” and she and Brian Austin Green had an off-screen romance. Since Donna and David are one of the classic couples from the original show, this was a big deal.

Could Tori Spelling and Brian Austin Green have a romance on the 90210 reboot? It would be really fun to watch, and it seems like this could totally happen in the next five episodes, especially since it was alluded to in the first one. They seem awkward enough around one another that there must be some tension there.

7 They Should Mention The Other Reboot

In 2008, a reboot of the original show called 90210 stated airing on The CW. It ran for five seasons until it ended in 2013 and starred Shenae Grimes-Beech as Annie Wilson, a girl from Kansas who ended up in Beverly Hills with her family.

While Shannen Doherty and Jennie Garth appeared on the show super briefly, it wasn’t as good as the original. It would be interesting if the 2019 reboot would mention this earlier one and if the cast could share what they really thought about it.

6 Behind-The-Scenes Dirt

10 Things We Want To See In The Reboot Of 90210

It always seems like shooting a television series is a great time, but of course, the stars of this teen drama were young adults themselves. There must have been a lot of drama off the camera. Did any of the co-stars date each other? Did they become fast friends and then start fighting?

We would definitely like to see a discussion of behind-the-scenes dirt and drama in the 90210 reboot. Maybe the gang could have a scene where they’re hanging out at one of their houses or in a bar and they could share stories about what it was like back in the day. Sure, these discussions would be exaggerrated and only based on reality a little bit since that’s the tone of the show, but that would be good enough for us.

5 More Tongue-In-Cheek Jokes

10 Things We Want To See In The Reboot Of 90210

The 90210 reboot has a self-aware tone, and most of all, Tori Spelling is the one who is making jokes about her life and the perception that people have of her. Her “character” on the show and her husband, Dane, have a reality series called Spelling The Beans (alluding to how Tori always plays off her last name, like her memoir STORItelling). In the first episode, the show is canceled and someone tells Tori that she has “milked her brand” and there’s zero story left behind.

This is hilarious and props to Tori Spelling for being in on the joke. It would be great if the reboot had more tongue-in-cheek statements like this.

4 Some Resistance To The Reboot

10 Things We Want To See In The Reboot Of 90210

Shannen Doherty has said in interviews that she wasn’t super sure about appearing in BH90210, and people say that before he passed away, Luke Perry had been considering being on it as well.

At the end of the premiere of BH90210, Tori and Jennie wonder about a reboot since Tori needs cash (and fast) and Jennie is feeling down. It would be interesting to see the other cast members have some resistance to doing this new show.

3 An Actual Scene At The Peach Pit

10 Things We Want To See In The Reboot Of 90210

In the premiere of the 2019 reboot, Tori has a dream that she’s back at the Peach Pit with David and Brandon and the rest of the gang. But what about an actual scene in this location that isn’t a dream?

This location is so important to fans of the show since it’s where Brandon worked and where everyone hung out all the time. It would also be fun to bring back Nat (Joe E. Tata). Then the reboot would feel complete.

2 A ‘Real Housewives’ Joke

10 Things We Want To See In The Reboot Of 90210

Denise Richards is going to be on BH90210, and since she’s been a recent cast member of The Real Housewivse of Beverly Hills, we would love for her to make an amazing and hilarious Real Housewives joke.

Maybe some of the others will even appear on this show, too? It would be awesome to see Vicki from RHOC and Bethenny from RHONY on the 90210 reboot. Okay, we’re getting ahead of ourselves. Denise Richards will be an awesome addition, and we’re hoping that it’ll be funny. At the very least, it’s nice nostalgia for fans since she played Robin McGill in the 1992 episode “Wedding Bell Blues.”

1 A Meta Response To The Show Within The Show

Finally, we would like to see this on the 2019 reboot of 90210: a meta response to the show within the show. Perhaps this new show will premiere and the gang will look at online comments, reviews, and social media posts.

This could be fun since people could say the things that they have been saying IRL: it’s fun, it’s campy, it’s a bit confusing… and what even is it?! But even if these 10 things don’t happen in the next five episodes, this show is still a really great memory lane exercise.
