The Netflix historical drama series follows the legendary Venetian explorer Marco Polo as he goes on adventures in the 13th-century and gets captured in China. Polo is imprisoned by the ambitious Kublai Khan who sees him as someone he can use to further his goals.

Khan has plans to conquer the world but Polo is conflicted about whether he should help him. Unfortunately, the series was canceled. Netflix revealed that it gave the company a loss of $200 million.

Swordsman was adapted from the best-selling novel of the same name by Jin Yong wuxia. The series follows Linghu Chong who is a member of the Hua Shan Chinese sect. He falls in love with a woman named Yue Ling Shan, who happens to be the daughter of his master. Forbidden territory?

The two also happen to be childhood friends. She sees him as a brother figure at first but falls in love too. Their love gets threatened when a new and ambitious trainee joins the sect after his family gets massacred. There is plenty of action that involves swords, first and kicks.

5 Cobra Kai

The critically acclaimed series is a sequel to the movie Karate Kid. Events take place 30 years later, with the story revolving around the same main characters. The series has a score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes

This first-ever Netflix South Korean original series is more than brilliant. It was adapted from the comic series The Kingdom Of The Gods. On Rotten Tomatoes, it has a score of 93%. It currently has two seasons and a third is said to be in development.

Events take place during Korea’s Joseon period which was right after the Japanese invasions of Korea (1592-1598), The plot revolves around the Crown Prince Lee Chang (Ju Ji-hoon), who decides to investigate a mysterious illness and uncovers a major political conspiracy.

Wu Assasins stars Iko Uwais, the popular Indonesian actor known for his work in The Raid. Uwais plays a chef in San Francisco’s Chinatown neighborhood named Kai Jin. He encounters mystical powers and is given the task of being a Wu Assassin.

The Wu Assasins are selected people who bear the responsibility of killing the five Wu Warlords. These are men who have supernatural powers that make them able to manipulate fire, earth, wood, metal, and water. Wu Assassins are able to change their appearance and survive deadly attacks.

The series was developed from an idea that legendary actor and martial arts expert Bruce Lee had. Lee had intended to create the series back in 1971 but failed to agree with studio executives. Years later, his daughter Shannon Lee made his father’s dream a reality by teaming up with Cinemax.

The series has plenty of intense action scenes as well as the usual explicit scenes that Cinemax shows are known for. It follows a martial arts prodigy named Ah Sahm who moves from China to San Francisco’s China Town neighborhood in the 1870s in search of his sister but he is soon thrown into a world of violence and mayhem.
