10 Video Game Characters That Could Take On Batman (& Actually Win)

Whether you know him as the Batman, The Caped Crusader, or Bruce Wayne, everyone knows that he’s perhaps the most intelligent superhero in the DC Universe. This is a guy that has taken on Superman! Not only that, but he also has a full-proof plan to take down the entire Justice League in the event they turn evil. Combine elite combat tactics with superior intellect, and you get the one, the only, Batman.

Considering he’s nearly unbeatable, we’ve all asked the question “Who can take down the bat?”. Well, there are some other characters that could give the bat a run for his money, specifically from video games.

10 Albert Wesker: Resident Evil

Dr. Albert Wesker, one of the main villains in the Resident Evil series, is an ideal challenge for Batman. For one, he’s highly intelligent, not necessarily the same level as Batman, but he’s capable of developing a virus that decimated the world so…he’s pretty smart. He also has special genetic mutation that made him immune to viral infection symptoms, so the bat won’t be able to rely on biological warfare.

He’s able to intercept and throw missiles with one hand and can move faster than the brain can comprehend. The virus also gave him a potent healing factor, occasionally being able to resurrect him from the dead as long as his body was mostly intact. With speed faster than the brain can comprehend, regenerative healing, and the strength to match, Batman would be in a lot of trouble if he faced Wesker.

9 Agent 47: Hitman

Ask yourself this question, “Has Batman faced an assassin as lethal as Agent 47?”. The closest hired hand would likely be Deathstroke, and while Slade Wilson is capable, he’s no Agent 47. With a genetically engineered mind and body, Agent 47 is considered not only the greatest but also the most lethal assassin in the world.

Agent 47 has heightened speed, strength, and metabolism; the latter giving him a small healing factor. The leg up he has on Batman is his ability to use his heightened senses to find targets through walls and floors, giving him the best possible chance of catching the Batman by surprise.

8 Alex Mercer: Prototype

This character is essentially Batman with a deadly virus that allows him to turn various parts of his body into deadly weapons. Alex Mercer is the protagonist of Prototype and sees himself become the main antagonist in Prototype 2. After attempting to flee New York with a deadly virus, Mercer instead finds himself infected by the virus and scours New York looking for those responsible for his misfortune.

The list of genetic enhancements given to Mercer by this virus is vast, from superhuman speed to endurance to healing factors, there’s honestly nothing he doesn’t have. Perhaps the most useful one in a fight against Batman though, is The Blacklight Virus’s ability to adapt, making it and Mercer nearly impervious.

7 Akuma: Street Fighter

“The supreme master of the fist!” Akuma, the “Great Demon” has terrorized fan favorites, Ryu and Ken, for years, and although they are formidable, they don’t quite near Akuma’s power. Akuma rarely has to use the extent of his power and only does so when he deems his opponent “worthy.”

His life and pride are centered around finding the strongest opponents and defeating them. What better opponent for Akuma to show his true strength than against the Batman and vice versa, Batman will have to use all of his 127 known martial arts to defeat an opponent like Akuma.

6 Raiden: Mortal Kombat

Perhaps the strongest character in any platform fighting game is Raiden, the eternal God of Thunder and protector of Earthrealm. Before defeating Shinnok for the second time, Raiden was already very powerful, but now, he’s reached the status of Elder God and is nearly unbeatable. Although Batman is familiar with god-like beings like Shazam and Black Adam, they don’t quite control electricity like Raiden.

Batman had faced a “god” before when he fought Superman; however, Raiden doesn’t have an allergy to kryptonite, and Batman can’t gimmick his way out of this one. In a fight with a man that can summon electricity with his thoughts, Batman just doesn’t quite have the chops to compete.

5 Doomslayer: Doom

10 Video Game Characters That Could Take On Batman (& Actually Win)

The resident demon-slayer throughout video games is “Doomslayer” who essentially was just a marine that has been enhanced to slay the demons of hell. At this point, he’s so far from being human that he no longer needs to eat, drink or sleep, basically becoming immortal. Not to mention he’s kind of like the John Wick of demon slayers considering he went back to hell after finding out his pet, Daisy, was dead.

Even if you took his weapons away from him, he’s still a very capable combatant, able to destroy demons with just his bare hands. What many forget is that he’s also quite smart and is able to use technology from other worlds with relative ease.

4 Sephiroth: Final Fantasy VII

The one soldier that was better than the rest who found out what atrocities made him and vowed revenge…Sephiroth! Sephiroth appears in various Final Fantasy games but is the main antagonist in Final Fantasy VII, depicted as Cloud Strife’s archenemy. After being driven insane, Sephiroth found himself going from celebrity war-hero to super-villain.

A master swordsman and the greatest SOLDIER 1st Class of all time, Sephiroth is regarded as unbeatable, going as far as to say that he either couldn’t use the extent of his power against Cloud or he was holding back. If you pair his ability with a sword along with his ability to wield the most devastating magic of all, Batman doesn’t stand a chance in this one.

3 Master Chief: HALO

10 Video Game Characters That Could Take On Batman (& Actually Win)

The bravest and luckiest of all the Spartans is John-117, better known as Master Chief. From a young age, he was trained in the ways of war and, at fourteen years of age, went under the Spartan-II augmentation. Pairing bravery with luck and the ability to lead propelled him to the top of the Spartans, and he did all of this before he gained Cortana.

The augmentation granted Master Chief superhuman enhancements like enhanced speed and enhanced eyesight. You’re probably thinking “What if he has to fight Batman without his Spartan suit?”, Master Chief’s got that covered too. Even without his armor, he has a nearly unbreakable skeleton and enhanced reflexes. If these two fought, Batman would be a heavy underdog.

2 Dante: Devil May Cry

10 Video Game Characters That Could Take On Batman (& Actually Win)

The second son of the demon Sparda and the human Eva, paranormal mercenary and vigilante devil hunter is Dante! Dante is the recurring protagonist in the Devil May Cry franchise and probably one of the strongest video game characters of all time. Consider him a demon-slaying version of everyone’s favorite “Merc with a Mouth,” Deadpool.

Although mouthy, Dante has a strong sense of morality and cares deeply for his family and friends giving him a Batman level of resolve. As far as powers and abilities go, Dante has all the trimmings of a superhero: superhuman strength, agility, durability, and stamina. He’s also able to manipulate his demonic power into physical weapons like his guns or the air itself. Pairing that with his accelerated healing factor, Dante might find Batman not even worth a fight.

1 Kratos: God of War

Who better to fill the number one spot than the literal god of war, Kratos. The Greek pantheon has already fallen at his feet, and now he’s looking to take down Valhalla itself. Before Ares lent his strength to Kratos, he was a capable Spartan general. What happened after cemented Kratos’ name in history as possibly the most powerful video game character ever.

Kratos has a laundry list of powers and abilities; clearly, superhuman strength and speed are two of his most used, but he also has the ability to clone himself with the Oath Stone of Orkos. Did I mention he’s immortal? Punishment by the gods for the sins he’s committed. All in all, it’d be a good idea for Batman to stand aside if he crossed paths with “the Ghost of Sparta.”
