10 YuGiOh! Logic Memes That Are Too Hilarious For Words

Yu-Gi-Oh! is the TCG phenomenon that fans everywhere swore was just a commercialism fueled fever dream that somehow snuck into Saturday mornings. The anime originally focused on a group of teenagers that really enjoyed a board game that everybody else just took way too far, where people’s lives, the economy, and even the fate of the world were put in the same hands holding a Kuriboh.

From then on, every sequel became dedicated to topping either how obsessed society as a whole was with this game or how deadly it could be, with either idea contributing to the game somehow including motorcycles. In critique and perhaps even intervention of all the hilarious logic put into advertising a really cool card game, here are a few memes too hilarious for words.

10 Trust Your Deck…

As those who actually play the game know, a huge part of a winning strategy of this game is not having to trust the deck. One should already have one pre-built for a preconceived strategy. If one has to “trust” their deck, they either have a significant gambling problem or are among the luckiest people in the world. In comes Yugi Muto and anyone else who goes to his hairdresser.

While the series likes to promote its main characters as having some actual talent and skill, what they mostly have is a ton of luck and a really generous writing team backing them up.

9 Genuine Strategy Vs The Heart Of The Cards

Yu-Gi-Oh! the anime is a fine example of a multi-million dollar marketing scheme meant to push more collectable and tradeable pieces of cardboard into children’s hands. However, one really shouldn’t look to this series for any guidance as to how to actually play it.

It’s like really bad at that. So much so, the crux of how the main characters typically win isn’t attributed to any actual strategy that pros in the real world use. The main characters all use this mythical power called “The Heart of the Cards,” i.e. plot armor for a game.

8 The Series In A Few Words

It’s a little restrictive to associate this issue with just 5D’s. If anything, 5D’s sets the worst expectations of the game, considering that an entire motorcycle isn’t included in those grocery store, bundle packs. Yu-Gi-Oh! as a series is famously dedicated to giving as much pageantry as possible to the card game it’s trying to shill.

It’s a near brilliant marketing scheme that Coca-Cola and Cheerios must be drooling over. Why bother to compete for some small scheduling time in between shows when the ad can just be the show?

7 Weevil And A Dash Of Salt

Weevil is upsetting for a variety of reasons but perhaps what makes him the least likable character in the entire show is the fact that he can remind anyone of that one annoying kid in class who couldn’t be trusted with being lent a pencil much less prized, collectibles. Within the context of the show, Weevil was an infamously competitive player who’d cheat his way to winning and was pretty open about the fact that he’d do anything for the tournament’s prize money.

If anything, it’s shocking that Yugi would even consider letting any of the competition near his deck, let alone take it out in the wide open air of the sea right next to the side of a cruise ship.

6 It’s All Coming Together

If the main characters and all of their plot armor were bad at teaching the game, then look out for Joey. He can maker anyone nervous just by how he shuffles his deck.

Joey Wheeler is infamous for his contempt of the entire game, his terrible cards that he conveniently gets to work, and the overall panache he gives it all before he loses at least once in the storyline. It’s amazing that a guy who constantly struggles to remember and learn the rules of the game somehow gets to ranks as one of its top players.

5 I Summon Tristan Taylor!

10 YuGiOh! Logic Memes That Are Too Hilarious For Words

As much as Joey struggles to play the actual game, at least he actually plays it. Tristan Taylor is an odd side character within the series. It seems that he would be one of the tough, backup guys in a more action oriented, Shounen series but is just relegated to the peanut gallery in this one.

It’s kind of hard to pin down overall what Tristan contributes or even means to the series given that he is one of the few characters who rarely touches a deck. This is kind of worrying considering that he should know at some point that the fate of the world constantly depends on this game and that Yugi and Joey could probably use more backup than some guy who just asks about what’s going on.

4 You Kidnapped My Grandfather!

10 YuGiOh! Logic Memes That Are Too Hilarious For Words

Do weapons, guns, or even the police exist in this world? Mythical stuff aside, a few of the character’s problems, like genuine break ins or acts of violence, could probably be handled better if someone were to actually bring in the authorities. However, to look at the other side, it’s a little comforting thinking that there’s this world of people that have done away with violence and now solve all of their squabbles with a card game.

However, continuing to look objectively, it is immensely worrying that a children’s card game could lead to so much violence and terror in the first place, as well as result in people being “Mind Crushed” or sent into another, terrifying dimension.

3 This Series Doesn’t Mess Around

10 YuGiOh! Logic Memes That Are Too Hilarious For Words

Pokemon and all of its superpowered animals and godlike beings doesn’t even come close to the level of hardcore and overestimated stakes that is within Yu-Gi-Oh!. This series really likes to take things too far, with the simple kidnapping of an old man being the least of any of this series’ issues.

People get hooked up to electrical devices and buzzsaws for this game. Entire cults are dedicated to the game. Entire ancient Egyptian wars have been fought over this game. At some point in time, people should probably just play another game. Monopoly is pretty good.

2 Before And After Playing A Children’s Card Game

Is this game actually fun to play in this world? Are none of its child protagonists worried or disillusioned by the fact that the world has somehow made their favorite hobby a death game used to fight for the rights of the world?

If one needs to put on a deathly scowl for this game, it probably isn’t all that fun of a game. People here really need to find either a different hobby or fight with something else besides demonic beasts within cards.

1 Fear The Necklace

This is it. This is the entire series. Why bother actually being good at the game or even learning the rules when one can just have a shiny, magical item tell them something about destiny? When the necklaces start glowing or talking, the main character is then given a right to make outrageous moves that are otherwise illegal in the actual manual.

This list earlier attributed much of the main characters’ successes to plot armor but even that seems powerless to outright cheating. This anime doesn’t feature enough referees or at least ones who’ve read the rulebook.
