Tammy Slaton has been on a tumultuous weight loss journey in 1000-lb Sisters, and the entertainer’s followers are eager to know how she’s fairing in the present day. Although she’s fought to lose weight for the past few years, Tammy’s fans have witnessed the television personality’s reluctance to commit to healthier diets. From her brief stay at rehab to her recovery from COVID-19, here’s everything there is to know about Tammy’s life today.

Unfortunately, fans have good reason to be concerned for the current state of Tammy’s health. Before Tammy and her sister Amy starred in their own reality series, the elder Slaton sibling had already faced a slew of life-threatening health complications. Tammy’s dealt with a potentially fatal health crisis like a blood clot that formed in her lungs. Tammy also came down with a severe case of pneumonia that looked so grim, Amy started a GoFundMe for Tammy’s funeral. After surviving these close-calls, Amy and Tammy were inspired to salvage their lives and lose weight before it was too late. Since the pair of sisters committed to losing weight in 1000-lb Sisters season 1, however, Amy and Tammy have achieved disproportionate measures of progress.

Today, Amy is living the life she never thought she’d have. After losing enough weight to qualify for bariatric surgery in season 1, Amy got pregnant and gave birth to her now 1-year-old baby boy, Gage. Regrettably, Tammy isn’t currently enjoying the fruits of her labor like her sister is. While Amy made steady progress toward her weight loss goals, Tammy consistently met impediments that held her back from qualifying for the bariatric operation. One of these complications that still affects Tammy today is the coronavirus. Tammy contracted COVID in 1000-lb Sisters season 2, and although the reality star survived the fatal virus, the pandemic regressed in her weight loss goals as she grappled with the illness. Tammy has struggled to lose the weight she gained during her COVID recovery and, according to her recent Instagram post from October 5, Tammy is still relying on a breathing tube.

Although it appears Tammy isn’t better off since she was last seen on 1000-lb Sisters, the entertainer has made some recent headway in her weight loss journey. This past spring, Tammy checked herself into a rehabilitation center for food addiction. When Tammy entered the facility, the reality star weighed 689 pounds. Tammy’s strived to lose 100 pounds throughout her stay at the rehab. To the disappointment of Tammy’s family and fans, however, the television personality abandoned the facility after eight weeks with only 60 pounds lost. Since Tammy returned home 40 pounds short of her objective, she hasn’t demonstrated any proof of progress in her weight loss journey. Other than a short-lived relationship with a TikTok influencer, nothing appears to be new in Tammy’s life today. While fans might be relieved to hear she’s still kicking, others are surely disappointed Tammy hasn’t met her weight loss ambitions.

For better or for worse, Tammy’s health seems to be in the same condition today it was when fans last watched the entertainer in 1000-lb Sisters. Fortunately, Tammy has been able to mostly recover from her intense battle with COVID-19, but the reality star wasn’t able to stick out her rehab stay to prove she’s finally committed to losing weight. Tammy has yet to give 1000-lb Sisters fans sound reason to believe she will turn her life around any time soon.
