1000Lb Sisters Why Tammy Slaton May Need A Little Tough Love From Amy

Amy Slaton has been the thankless caretaker for her sister Tammy in 1000-lb Sisters, but it might finally be time for the sibling to try a more confrontational approach with Tammy. As the Slaton sisters embark on season 3, fans are frustrated with Tammy’s lack of progress throughout her years on television and think Amy is running out of time to motivate her sister to take her weight loss seriously. From Tammy’s tendency to skirt responsibility to the reality star’s diminishing health, here’s why Amy needs to show her older sister some tough love.

As can be expected for a pair of sisters starring on a TV series together, Amy and Tammy’s relationship is a complicated one. The Slaton siblings grew up depending on each other because their mother was constantly working part-time jobs. Tammy and Amy had to care for one another when there wasn’t a parent to watch over them, and the Slaton family’s financial woes made it difficult for Amy and Tammy to afford healthier food on their own. During the childhood years they spent together, Amy and Tammy developed unhealthy relationships with cheaper “junk” foods. It wasn’t until the duo made their reality TV debut in 1000-lb Sisters, that Amy and Tammy made conscious efforts to lose weight and turn their lives around. Unfortunately, Tammy hasn’t been driven as her younger sister has.

Where Amy’s followed through on all of her weight loss commitments, Tammy’s struggled to adhere to the goals she set for herself in 1000-lb Sisters season 1. By the end of the Slaton sister’s premiere season, Amy underwent life-saving bariatric surgery, and at season 2’s conclusion, Amy welcomed her baby boy Gage. Regrettably, Tammy hasn’t made steady progress during her past few years in the spotlight. After contracting COVID-19 in season 2, Tammy fell even further from her goals and gained weight. Fans hoped Tammy might finally be taking accountability for her health when she went to a rehab facility for food addiction, but the reality star checked out 40 pounds short of her goal. This is another example of Tammy refusing responsibility and it’s come time for Amy to put her foot down with her sister.

Tammy conveys a lax approach to her stagnant weight loss journey, convincing many 1000-lb Sisters viewers the reality star is comfortable living with her current health condition. Amy needs to be tougher on Tammy now because her older sister is running out of time. Before she got her start on TV, Tammy had already overcome a slew of health scares. From a blood clot in her lungs that made it difficult to breathe to a case of pneumonia that convinced Amy her older sister’s days had come to an end, Tammy’s weight has demonstrated itself to be an unavoidable threat to the entertainer’s life. If Tammy continues down this path of insignificant weight loss, doctors affirmed the Slaton sister won’t be around for much longer. Instead of throwing a party for Tammy following her premature evacuation from rehab, fans agree it’s essential for Amy to be stricter.

Amy isn’t responsible for Tammy’s fruitless weight loss journey, but it’s past time for the younger Slaton sister to tell it like it is. If Amy doesn’t shake her sister out of her delusions and inspire her to lose weight once and for all, Tammy won’t have many more seasons on TV left, sadly. Hopefully, Amy will inspire her sister to take her health more seriously in 1000-lb Sisters season 3.
