1000lb Sisters Why Tammy Slatons Back In The Hospital

Tammy Slaton’s health has experienced major lows throughout the entertainer’s run on 1000-lb Sisters, and regrettably, the famous sister is once again recovering from an illness at the hospital. The longer Tammy’s failed to make headway in her weight loss ambitions, the more the reality star’s family and fans have been aware of the danger the Slaton sibling’s put her life in. From mental health issues to another battle with pneumonia, here’s everything that led to Tammy requiring another stay at the hospital.

Before she was introduced to audiences in 1000-lb Sisters season 1, Tammy had already faced a handful of close calls due to her weight. Tammy shared that she once had trouble breathing because she had a blood clot in her lungs. Additionally, Amy felt the need to set up a GoFundMe for Tammy’s funeral after the elder Slaton sister came down with a bad case of pneumonia. Unfortunately, Tammy’s health woes didn’t end once the star embarked on her weight loss journey in 1000-lb Sisters. Tammy struggled to make progress and viewers aren’t sure how much time the reality star has left to turn her life around. When Tammy contracted COVID in season 2, the entertainer relied on a breathing tube but miraculously recovered.

Since healing from the coronavirus, Tammy’s health had been on an upward trajectory. Tammy even lost weight while she stayed at a rehab facility for eight weeks. Sadly, a new update from Tammy confirmed the Slaton sister’s health nosedived once again. In a TikTok posted from her hospital bed, Tammy explained the chain of events that led to her current condition. First, Tammy confessed her mental health wasn’t in the best place while she was filming 1000-lb Sisters season 3. The 1000-lb Sisters star shared, “Around July of this year, I kinda had a mental breakdown and I lost myself… super bad.” Tammy even stopped filming her family’s reality show for the month of September to recuperate from her mental health struggles. Although she returned to star in 1000-lb Sisters season 3 in October, Tammy wasn’t out of the woods yet.

In between coughs, Tammy continued breaking down her past few months battling against emotional and physical health complications. Tammy clarified, “I ended up in the hospital because of carbon dioxide poisoning.” Tammy explained that the poisoning resulted in the reality star contracting pneumonia again. Tammy’s impaired condition led to the entertainer going on life support in the hospital. Tammy confirmed the reason why her voice sounded strange is that doctors gave her a tracheostomy to help airflow. Despite the poor state Tammy appeared to be in, the reality star assured her followers, “I’m doing better day by day. I’m supposed to be getting out of the hospital in a couple of days.” Once she’s released from the hospital, however, Tammy’s recovery journey continues as she plans to go to another rehab to get her strength back and get back to her weight loss work.

As long as Tammy failed to make significant progress in her weight loss journey, the TV personality’s family and fans knew Tammy’s health was still at risk. From suffering mental health issues to getting pneumonia again, Tammy’s had a tough several months that landed her back in the hospital. Hopefully, Tammy’s most recent close call will motivate the 1000-lb Sisters star to commit to her weight loss ambitions this time around.
