Disney’s The Princess & The Frog is one of the last animated Disney films to be made in their classic 2D style, and it’s also one of their most breathtaking films, visually. Set in 1920s New Orleans, Tiana is a headstrong cook who wants to have her own restaurant. It’s a stylish twist on the original fairytale and the music is really entertaining.

While there’s a happy ending, Tiana and Naveen go on an eventful journey through the bayou and encounter lots of danger, as well as make some friends along the way. It’s an emotional rollercoaster, with sad songs and funny moments that make The Princess & The Frog stand out from other Disney movies.

10 Funniest: When Charlotte Asks Tiana To Make Beignets For The Party

Charlotte is very charismatic, and when her father tells Tiana about the costume party they’re having and how it’ll involve Prince Naveen, she asks Tiana if she’ll make her famous beignets at the party.

Charlotte becomes extremely enthusiastic about it all, and while her father tries to explain the situation to Tiana, Charlotte won’t let him get a word in at all.

9 Saddest: When Tiana Believes That Naveen Left Her

When Naveen gets taken by Lawrence and Dr. Facillier, Tiana sees Lawrence on the float and truly believes that it’s Naveen.

It’s a sad scene because Tiana realizes that she loves Naveen and she thinks that he doesn’t love her back and it’s too late to confess her feelings to him. It’s even sadder when you realize that Naveen is trapped and that he also loves her back.

8 Funniest: When Tiana Turns Into A Frog

Tiana turning into a frog is unexpected for those who are familiar with the original fairytale, but the way it happens is very funny.

Tiana is dressed as a princess but she isn’t actually a princess, and Naveen gets mistaken by this and kisses her. They both hoped nothing would happen, but instead, much to Naveen’s shock, Tiana gets turned into a frog.

7 Saddest: When Ray Dies

One of the saddest moments of The Princess & The Frog is when Ray dies. After attempting to disrupt Facilier’s plan, he gets crushed and dies.

It’s a very sad scene, but in the end, they look up to the sky and see that Ray joins Evangeline as a star, and it actually becomes quite beautiful.

6 Funniest: When Tiana Teaches Naveen How To Cook

When Tiana, Naveen, Louis, and Ray are traveling down the bayou, Tiana decides to make gumbo for them. Instead of Naveen watching her cook, she decides to teach him how to mince food.

It’s cute and wholesome to see them interacting like this, especially since it’s so outside Prince Naveen’s comfort zone. He looks so out of his depth, yet he starts to enjoy it, and that’s probably because he’s with her.

5 Saddest: When Charlotte Kisses Naveen & It Doesn’t Work

Towards the end of the movie and once they’ve defeated Facilier, Tiana and Naveen tell Charlotte than in order to break the curse, she has to kiss him while she’s still a princess.

Unfortunately, their time runs out and their kiss doesn’t break the curse. Things start to look very bleak until Tiana and Naveen get married and find out that because she’s a princess now, she can finally break the curse.

4 Funniest: When Tiana And Naveen Meet Louis

Louis is an energetic, jazz-loving, trumpet player who dreams of playing in a jazz band one day. When Tiana and Naveen try and figure out a way to turn human again, they meet Louis.

They originally think that he’s going to eat them, but instead, he gets excited about a tune that Naveen is playing.

3 Saddest: When Ray Sings About Evangeline

Ray’s song about Evangeline is simultaneously heartwarming and tragic, mainly because Evangeline is in fact a star and not a firefly, like he is.

The others know that Evangeline is a star, but they decide not to tell him since it’ll probably break his heart. The song is beautiful and Tiana and Naveen top it off by dancing together.

2 Funniest: When They Meet Mama Odie

Mama Odie is an extroverted witch who Louis claims can turn Naveen and Tiana back into humans. We are introduced to the character through a song, and while Mama Odie certainly does have powers, she tells them that the only way to break the spell is for Naveen to kiss a real princess.

She’s a very funny and peculiar character and her song is the perfect introduction to her.

1 Saddest: When Tiana Finds Out She Might Not Get The Restaurant

One of the saddest moments of the film is when Tiana finds out that she might not end up getting the restaurant. She’s so close to achieving her dreams when she discovers she might be outbid.

It’s a bit soul-crushing, considering that all she has ever wanted is to have her own restaurant. It’s all the talked about with her mother and she was so excited when she had the money, so it made that scene pretty tough.
