Disney and Pixar have consistently put out incredible movies ever since they began, and each company has dipped its toes into the world of superheroes as well. For Pixar, that was with The Incredibles, which has gone done in history as one of Pixar’s greatest movies. Meanwhile, Disney produced the equally brilliant Big Hero 6, which was packed full of emotion.

Both movies are incredibly entertaining and are excellent examples of what a great superhero movie should consist of. But when it comes to comparing these two animated superhero moves, which of them comes out best, giving the other the knock out blow?

10 The Incredibles: A Bigger Superhero World

The Incredibles just feels like a much bigger universe when it comes to superheroes, and that is something that is developed throughout the movie. Straight away the world and history are created, with backstory, older superheroes and hints that the superhero world is much bigger than just the characters shown.

That isn’t really the case within Big Hero 6, with just the main characters being shown, the vast majority of which aren’t actually superheroes. Instead, they’re smart characters who can create technology but don’t really have the fighting experience, which is why the world of The Incredibles just feels stronger.

9 Big Hero 6: Stronger Fight Scenes

The main focus of every superhero movie is the action and the fight scenes. This is what audiences want to see from them and it is Big Hero 6 which does it the best. While The Incredibles has some great action, it feels like something that could be shown in any other superhero movie that has already been created.

On the other hand, everything about Big Hero 6 feels unique and fresh. The use of magnets adds a lot to the major fight scene at the end, with raising levels and a lot of unpredictability, which makes the fight scenes a little more exciting.

8 The Incredibles: A Better Score

Music in movies is absolutely everything, and The Incredibles excels in this department. The music throughout this movie is absolutely amazing from start to finish. The score really suits the movie and everything that is happening, with some fast-paced moments when the action picks up, yet slower, softer music when the scenes require that.

While Big Hero 6’s music isn’t bad by any means, it simply doesn’t hold up to the same level that this fantastic movie does, and it really does add to the ambience and just helps the movie come out as a more enjoyable watch.

7 Big Hero 6: Baymax

Simply put, Baymax makes a huge difference when the two movies are compared. He brings everything that people could want in a good superhero character. He has multiple abilities, from his healing help, to how he then switches and becomes an ass-kicking robot machine.

However, it’s also in Baymax’s personality that he shines. He is incredibly caring and emotional, which brings some sadder moments, while his dry humor also leads to some hilarious moments for the movie as well, which is why he’s gone on to become such a popular character.

6 The Incredibles: Spawned A Sequel

The fact that The Incredibles actually ended up having a sequel created, continuing the story and the franchise even further. It’s a clear sign of the sheer popularity that the original movie had, which is something that deserves a lot of credit.

While Big Hero 6 could end up gaining a sequel down the line, at the moment, that isn’t the case and it is certainly The Incredibles that felt like it required one. It simply has a larger world to be explored as it is a more traditional superhero movie.

5 Big Hero 6: Stronger Villain

A great superhero movie needs to have a great villain to go along with it, and Big Hero 6 certainly has the best of the two. While Syndrome certainly has his qualities and is a good character overall, Robert Callaghan just brings a little bit more to the movie and feels like a more commanding presence.

There’s a great twist with Robert being revealed as the villain of the movie and his alter-ego of Yokai is incredibly menacing. He’s very skilled and unlike Syndrome, he doesn’t need to create a robot to make it happen, he simply does the fighting himself, which makes him a far stronger and scarier villain.

4 The Incredibles: More Memorable Characters

Both movies see a team of heroes comes together to fight against the villain and is through those characters that the story is told. For Big Hero 6, the focus is very much on Hiro and Baymax, with everyone else feeling like true supporting characters.

However, within The Incredibles, every member of the family feels important, and they tell clear stories, with the characters simply being more memorable, rather than being there to fill the movie out. On top of that, even the smaller roles like Frozone and Edna Mode are incredibly impactful, which just makes the movie that much more impressive.

3 Big Hero 6: More Emotional

Superhero movies always bring plenty of action, and that’s something that each of these movies does very well. However, what makes a good superhero movie great is when there are serious emotional stakes, taking the viewer on a rollercoaster journey of emotions.

Out of the two, it is Big Hero 6 that does it best. Following Hiro Hamada, the young teenager is put through the wringer. From his brother dying to the incredible difficulties he goes through after that, it is a coming of age movie as much as a superhero movie, and that makes it even easier to dive into and enjoy.

2 The Incredibles: Stronger Story

Overall, when looking at the stories, it is The Incredibles which wins this fight. The main core storyline is a lot of fun, with the superhero world being put back into hiding and Syndrome plotting to bring The Incredibles back only to take them down, it is really smartly written.

However, on top of that, all of the main characters have their own distinct story. The children are on their own journey, while Mr and Mrs Incredible have a story together and apart, which gives everyone a real purpose, so when they come together, the stakes are higher because the characters simply mean more.

1 Big Hero 6: Unique Powers

The powers that The Incredibles have are very traditional, run of the mill superpowers that audiences have come to expect from a movie from this genre. While that isn’t a bad thing, because Pixar did it really well, there’s no denying that the unique elements of each character in Big Hero 6 makes the movie feel fresh.

In a genre where seemingly everything has been done at some point, to have so many fresh and new moments just made this movie feel really enjoyable to watch, gripping viewers from start to finish.
