8 Things Most Fans Don’t Know About iZombie’s Rose McIver
If you haven’t watched the CW’s iZombie, you should. Starring actress Rose McIver, who plays Olivia Moore, is just fantastic.

iZombie is one of those TV shows that people that you know keep recommending but you haven’t watched it yet. It premiered in 2015 and there have been four seasons so far. The series follows Olivia Moore, a girl who gets turned into a zombie. She turns lemons into lemonade (or brains into… a job?) and starts working at the morgue. It’s the perfect job for her since she can learn everything that there is to know about someone once she has eaten their brain. That’s pretty handy when it comes to solving crimes and mysteries. (Oh, and her nickname is Liv, making her name Liv Moore which is definitely worth mentioning.)

8 She’s From New Zealand
It’s always interesting when an actress or actor does such an amazing job with an American accent that you have no idea that they’ve actually got a totally different accent. One thing that you should definitely know about Rose McIver is that she’s from New Zealand. You would really have no idea based on her work on iZombie.
Rose McIver appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live in 2015 and he didn’t realize that she was from New Zealand. He said, “What is going on here? What’s with this accent?” In an interview with TimeOut, Rose McIver said, “It feels like there’s no better time to be a Kiwi or an Australian trying to get work out in the States. People are much more open to that.”
7 She’s Been Acting Forever
While Rose McIver couldn’t be considered one of the “child stars” (aka the kind who is pushed into fame and works as much as a grown adult and burns out by their teen years), she was in a movie called The Piano when she was only two years old, which means that she started working in Hollywood at a really young age.

The Piano was made in New Zealand and came out in 1993. It also starred Anna Paquin and Holly Hunter, so that’s definitely an impressive movie to be in when you’re only two years old. Her role was “Angel.”
6 She Studied Psychology And Linguistics
Something else that you should know about Rose McIver is that she studied psychology and linguistics at the University of Auckland. She probably would have gotten her degree but, instead, she got a really awesome movie role (more on that soon) and left school. That definitely makes sense and it seems like we’re always hearing about actors who left high school or college in order to star in a TV show or movie.
It looks like it’s worked out well: Rose McIver told Stuff.co.nz that it’s been “collaborative” playing this role: “I kind of had this idea that working in television, especially in America, meant I was going to be part of a machine where everything was decided by executives. However, I found this one of the most collaborative experiences I’ve ever had. From talking about the different brains I eat, to how their former owners’ memories come to life for me, it really has been so communicative.”
5 She Played Tinker Bell
Fans of Once Upon A Time were all about the fairy tale content of the fantasy drama, and there’s no denying that the show had a certain cheesy charm. Rose McIver played Tinker Bell on that series.
Tinker Bell is such a cool character. Rose McIver once said about her, “Tinker Bell needs a Tinker Bell. She needs someone plotting for her. I certainly think that it’s something she wants.” While Tinker Bell is obviously tiny, she’s fierce and there’s no messing with her. That describes Rose McIver’s iZombie role as well since she’s strong and tough and stands up for herself and the people in her life.
4 She Loves Allison Janney
According to IMDB, Rose McIver loves Allison Janney. She has been quoted as saying, “Allison Janney, I’m such a big fan of. Especially the way she conducts herself on a personal level, it’s so beautiful. She’s this fun, gracious person.”
Who doesn’t love Allison Janney?! The actress is amazing in so many different types of roles. She’s hilarious on the sitcom Mom, she’s frightening as the mother in I, Tonya, and those are only two of her more recent roles. It was wonderful to watch her win an Oscar for her role in I, Tonya and many felt that it was extremely well-deserved.
3 She Likes To Write
You often hear about actors and actresses who have decided to direct or write. Sometimes you feel like, to be totally honest, they should stick to the medium that they are good at… but sometimes, you are pleasantly surprised and you can’t believe how good their movie is.

According to IMDB, Rose McIver has said, “Writing is definitely something that interests me a lot.” Maybe we’ll be hearing about a writing project that she’s involved in in the near future? That would be really cool. In the meantime, if you’re a fan of iZombie, you can’t wait for season five which will premiere in May.
2 She Was The Sister In ‘The Lovely Bones’
Peter Jackson’s 2009 film adaptation of the book The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold wasn’t the biggest hit with critics. It’s not always smooth sailing when a popular novel is turned into a film. Rose McIver was in that movie as Lindsey Salmon, the main character’s sister.
The story is super sad, following a girl named Susie Salmon who is assaulted and killed and can see everyone that she loves from what seems to be heaven. The bestselling book is a tearjerker for sure, and Saoirse Ronan stars as Susie in the film adaptation. Mark Walberg and Rachel Weisz play Susie and Lindsey’s parents.
1 She’s In ‘A Christmas Prince’
The 2017 holiday season brought with it one Netflix Christmas movie that everyone was chatting about: A Christmas Prince. You’ve probably seen it (and probably posted about it on social media, too), but just in case, it’s about a girl who meets a prince since she’s writing about him. Of course, it’s a cheesy love story. And, of course, it led to a second movie since it was so popular. The sequel, A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding, started streaming in November 2018.
Well, Rose McIver starred in A Christmas Prince, so this is something else that you should know about her. And if you watch iZombie, definitely tell your friends that they need to watch it too since it’s about to end.
