If there is one thing 90 Day Fiancé fans are good at, it is sleuthing. Viewers have been discussing the many plot holes and fake storylines in the most recent season of 90 Day Fiancé. There are the more obvious ones like Amira and Andrew, then, of course, there are ones that some fans probably had not thought of.

90 Day Fiancé has definitely become a scripted reality TV show from when they first started. In the beginning, it had some authenticity to it. The people, they chose were just average joes and had never appeared on tv before. It’s unlike this season where Rebecca has appeared in a Hollywood film and Jovi and Yara, both have experience being in front of the camera. It began as a docu-series simply following couples on the K1-visa but now due to its immense success, the show has lost some of the authenticity it used to have. Fans have been pooling together to expose the scripted scenes on this season and this is what they compiled.

On Reddit, fans came together to express their frustration at the fake storylines littered in this season. Fans commented on the scene with Amira and her father Hamdi, after she was deported from the Mexican detention center and he repeatedly said “omg, omg” a fan noted, “First off, as an Arab man, I can assure you that I have never heard another Arab man ever go ‘omg yes omg.’ It’s not the lingo of his age range and it was so damn obvious he was butchering the scene.” Fans did not stop there, however, and they also pointed out Yara and Jovi’s pregnancy scene. A fan claims that the pregnancy test scene was completely scripted to build suspense. Some fans said that maybe Jovi or production peed on the stick to make it come out negative, because suddenly for the second test the brand changes to Clearblue. Fans then pivoted to Brandon and Julia’s scene after Brandon is done talking to his mother and father, who many fans think are narcissists, about moving out. They noted that during the conversation Brandon’s mom says, “I feel like she’s taking my son,” the later when Brandon is playing pool with Julia, Julia says, “Your mom [doesn’t] say something like ‘she is taking my son’ or something like that.” It makes it even worse because none of these people are actors.

Fans are disappointed at the number of scripted scenes that seem to be happening in the show. The Family Chantel was also called into question over how authentic it is. Viewers enjoyed 90 Day Fiance for what it was and used to be. Although building storylines is a natural part of the production of a tv show, there needs to be a cap. The fans are tired and they have spoken, TLC, please put the scripts away.
