90 Day Fiancé Season 2 was the Worst Season

Season 2 of 90 Day Fiancé was the worst season. While TLC delivered six engaging and (mostly) loving couples, few of them managed to capture much attention after their 15 minutes of fame on the season lapsed.

We first encountered Danielle and Mohamed when they presented their doomed relationship to viewers. He hailed from Tunisia; she was a single mother living in Ohio. However, the relationship showed signs of strain from the beginning. Danielle grappled with skeptical relatives and a lack of affection from her husband, while Mohamed maintained that he could not be physical with her because of his religion. The couple wound up marrying on the show, but Mohamed shocked fans as well as Danielle’s family when he wouldn’t even kiss his bride at the end of their wedding ceremony. Then there’s Pennsylvania native Danny and his love, Amy, from South Africa. This young couple met in Australia during a church event. Their relationship was dogged by Danny’s racist father who didn’t accept Amy because she’s biracial. With time, he came around and now Danny and Amy are married and the proud parents of a son and daughter.

Divorced dad Brett was also showcased that season courting his Filipino girlfriend Daya. She was a polarizing figure on the show, and Brett’s mother was so unsure about their union, that she opted not to attend their wedding. After 90 Day Fiancé, Brett and Daya welcomed a daughter named Isabella. While the occasion of her birth was a happy one, the little girl was born with a heart condition that has required her to receive repeated medical care. Brett updated fans with this blog post:

“… Izzy’s doctor is being very careful by cautioning us that just because we are seeing an improvement, it doesn’t necessarily mean it will continue as much as we need it to which is why she will continue her monthly echogram with her cardiologist until doctors are certain that she will be okay for a while. One thing’s for sure is that even if all goes well, Isabella will always have yearly checkups on her heart. Neither Daya nor I have any known family history of heart conditions so it could just be one of life’s many surprises.”

Chelsea from Illinois fell in love with Nicaraguan pop star Yamir. The young couple seemed built to last, until Yamir shifted his focus on moving to a big city to pursue his music in the United States. Chelsea was initially reticent, but the couple ultimately moved to Chicago. However, in 2017, they split. Chelsea went on to became a schoolteacher, while Yamir stayed on in Chicago to work on his music. The former boy band member later took to Instagram to maintain that he and his ex are still friends. Frugal Florida native Jason fell in love with Brazilian aspiring model Cassia. The mismatched pair married and lived with Jason’s father, only to divorce in 2018. Justin from San Jose and Evelin from Colombia met at a rugby match in 2013. This union garnered a lot of attention on the show after it was revealed that he had asked Evelin to clean up his house after their first romantic encounter. In the end, they married and are reportedly still together.

Season 2 of 90 Day Fiancé was a buzzkill among the other seasons because its cast just isn’t that memorable. Although viewers lived for the ongoing saga of Danielle vs. Mohamed, the remaining five couples received a sprinkle of follow-up attention, only to sink back into obscurity. Fans haven’t even gotten the chance to watch them on the hilarious spin-off series, 90 Day Fiancé Pillow Talk. The good thing about 90 Day Fiance is that there’s no such thing as a terrible season, per se. The show is touching, informative, and sometimes downright outrageous. This one was just less successful than the rest.
