Funko has become a favourite among children and grownups alike with its extensive catalogue of vinyl figures, bobble-heads, etc, that range from music personalities, such as Guns N’ Roses, to superheroes like Batman and Iron Man.

The toy company keeps surprising its followers by announcing new figures at the London Toy Fair that not only include some highly anticipated figures, like those from Reservoir Dogs and Space Jam, but also a treat to ‘90s kids with vinyl figures from some of Nickelodeon’s classic cartoons: Rugrats, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, and CatDog.

Funko released concept art for this new lineup with some Nickelodeon favourites: directly from the Pickles’ living room come Tommy Pickles, his best friend Chuckie Finster, and their personal hero, Reptar, the dinosaur. Moving to the depths of the city dump, we have some of our favorite monsters from the decade: Krumm, Oblina, and Ickis, from Aaahh!!! Real Monsters. Last but not least is the conjoined twin hybrid of a cat and a dog, best known as CatDog.

Along with other cartoons like Rocko’s Modern Life and Hey Arnold!, these three shows are carved in the hearts of those who grew up in the ‘90s and followed their adventures on Nickelodeon. Rugrats ran from 1991 to 2004, following the day-to-day lives of a group of toddlers: Tommy, Chuckie, Phil and Lil, and Angelica. In 2001 a TV special titled All Growed Up was broadcasted in celebration of the series’ 10th anniversary. It later turned into the spin-off series All Grown Up!, which ran until 2008.

Aaahh!!! Real Monsters focused on three young monsters – Ickis, Oblina, and Krumm – who lived under a city dump and learned to frighten humans. The series ran from 1994 to 1997 – a short life, but they stayed in our memories. CatDog showed us what a conjoined twin hybrid of a cat and a dog could look like and what their lives would be like given that they have opposite personalities. The show aired from 1998 to 2005.

This is the first batch of ‘90s Nickelodeon characters released by Funko, and although there’s no word on whether there will be more characters joining them, it’s fair to say these will be quite the sensation when they finally come out. Funko did not share a release date other than 2017 nor any pricing information for these figures, so fans will have to wait a bit more to finally own these classics.
