AC Valhalla Dawn of Ragnarok Costs $40 Preorder Bonuses Detailed

Pre-order details for AC Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarök have officially gone live online, confirming the story expansion’s price tag and pre-purchase bonuses. Ubisoft finally let loose information about Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s second year of post-launch support, which includes the aforementioned Dawn of Ragnarok DLC and Crossover Stories.

The latter begins today, December 14, across both AC Odyssey and AC Valhalla. Owners of each title’s base game can access the free Crossover Stories content that introduces Odyssey hero Kassandra to the franchise’s newest lead character – Eivor. Dawn of Ragnarok won’t launch for Valhalla until March 2022, Ubisoft announced yesterday, confirming rumors that had been circulating for quite some time. In the expansion, Eivor will fully embrace the role of Odin, who will stop at nothing to rescue his son Baldur from a terrible fate. Footage from the DLC shows Odin taking on frost and fire-wielding foes, something the Allfather will need to combat with a few new skills of his own.

With pre-orders now live for the 35-hour AC Valhalla expansion, pricing information is readily available. Interestingly, it does not seem as though a Dawn of Ragnarok Season Pass is in the works, despite Ubisoft pushing a similar pricing model for the base game’s Year 1 content rollout. The DLC’s PlayStation Store listing confirms a $40 price tag and notes that those who pre-purchase will gain “immediate access” to the Twilight Pack. According to the game page on Ubisoft’s website, the Twilight Pack includes the Algurnir Dane Axe Weapon, Dellingr’s Envoy Raven Skin, the Havardr Lynx Mount, and the Twilight Gear Set. A screenshot of the pack appears as follows:

Whether or not 35-plus hours of content warrants a $40 price point will be left for players to decide come March 2022. Still, it’s somewhat surprising that a Dawn of Ragnarok Season Pass wasn’t unveiled alongside yesterday’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla reveal. Might this constitute the final DLC release of consequence for the Viking-centric adventure? If so, Ubisoft has yet to publicly acknowledge as much.

Dawn of Ragnarok counts as the third major expansion for AC Valhalla, the first of which launched in May as Wrath of the Druids. Notably, the DLC from earlier in the year saw Eivor set sail for Ireland to investigate an ancient druidic cult. The second expansion – The Siege of Paris – launched this past August and invited players to participate in the most ambitious conflict in Vikings history.
