Age of Calamity DLC Character Datamine Evidence Explained

A datamine for the demo of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity leaked major playable characters, and the full game seemingly leaks even more. This newest datamine reveals at least four playable characters who aren’t playable in the latest Zelda spin-off title yet. Fans are now speculating on whether or not that means these characters were scrapped from the project, or if they’re being saved for future Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity DLC.

A demo for Age of Calamity released a few weeks prior to the full game, after which it was promptly datamined. Those datamining efforts revealed the entire roster of playable characters for the full release of Age of Calamity. Since that datamine proved to be true, the datamine of the retail version of Age of Calamity is theoretically just as reliable.

The newest datamine for Age of Calamity (detailed by GameXplain) revealed that at least four characters in the game may be planned as playable characters in a future update – or perhaps they were scrapped from the project altogether. These characters are Robbie, Purah, Astor, and Sooga. Age of Calamity has a lot of secret characters to unlock, but those four aren’t playable yet. Robbie and Purah are both allies in the story, so it makes sense they’d be playable. While Astor and Sooga are antagonists, other villains are playable in Age of Calamity already. So, it’s certainly possible all four characters are meant to be playable characters at some point, and evidence suggests they aren’t scrapped – but are coming via future DLC.

Age Of Calamity’s Datamined Characters Are Probably DLC

The datamine for Age of Calamity suggests Purah, Robbie, Astor, and Sooga are playable based on unused dialogue, which had characters like Zelda calling on them for aid in battle. Some fans think the characters were planned to be playable but were then scrapped. However, it makes more sense that they’re DLC characters who will come to the game at a later time.

The reason this makes more sense is because of the first Hyrule Warriors game. Hyrule Warriors had several DLC packs, which included new weapons and playable characters. Even Breath of the Wild, which is set in the same universe as Age of Calamity, received DLC after launch. So it’s highly probable that Age of Calamity will too, and new DLC with playable characters would be the obvious and ideal way to get more content into the game.

So far, there’s been no official confirmation from Nintendo about DLC for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, or the characters revealed as playable in the datamine. However, it seems likely that Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity would get DLC at some point, and the four leaked characters would make obvious choices. So, it’s certainly possible fans will get to play as Purah, Robbie, Sooga, and Astor soon.
