Alien Paradise Lost Will Of Course Explore Engineer Homeworld

The sequel to Ridley Scott’s Prometheus begins production in February and aims not only to help connect its predecessor to Scott’s original Alien movie but to the upcoming Alien 5 in development from director Neill Blomkamp. Over the last week while promoting his latest sci-fi adventure, The Martian, Scott has been on a detail revealing spree and we have more news to share today.

First confirming that Prometheus 2 would be his next film and that it’ll see the return of stars Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender, Scott also revealed the sequel’s title to be Alien: Paradise Lost, hinting that he also has plans for a third and fourth Prometheus that would lead-in to the original Alien franchise. He even confirmed – despite previously stating the contrary – that the classic xenomorphs will be back again and their origins explained.

Yahoo caught up with Ridley Scott on his press tour as well and prodded for more details regarding Paradise Lost and when asked if its plot will pick up where Prometheus left off, with Elizabeth Shaw and David (or his android head) taking the Engineer ship to the Engineers homeworld, Scott responded with “Of course” and continued:

“Have you ever read Paradise Lost, by Milton? In a funny kind of way, it’s an interesting basis for the darkness of [Prometheus 2]. Where the good-looking guy, who is evil as s–t, gets all the girls and goes to the nightclubs. The other guy, who is not quite as good-looking, is boring as hell and stays home. So in a funny kind of way, we used that as the basis for it, it’ll be Alien: Paradise Lost. Which is very spooky, because it continues after the last one, where Elizabeth Shaw [Noomi Rapace] says, ‘I wanna go where they came from.’ And you’ve got Michael Fassbender in two parts, so she’ll slowly put him back together. They will go to the world of the Engineer.”

Scott had previously teased that he had an idea for how to bring back Michael Fassbender in a way that he could be more than just a head in a bag that Shaw carries around. We’re not sure how but it seems he’ll get a new body or get reattached to his old one, perhaps with Engineer technology from the starship they commandeered.

And we can definitely confirm that Prometheus 2/Alien: Paradise Lost will tell the story of Shaw and David visiting and exploring the homeworld of the Engineers.

“That’s where they’re going to go. They will find out who would design such an awful bio-mechanoid creature, like a massive piece of bacteria.”

What that looks like and what state its in when they get their is anyone’s guess, but given their advanced tech, it’s going to be an exciting site to see, ruins or otherwise.

If the next movie truly unravels the mystery behind the Engineers associated with the creation of humanity and later, the parasite designed to crush it – what will Prometheus 3 and 4 be about? And how will Alien: Paradise Lost include a connection to Alien franchise star Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) who also returns for Alien 5? Share your thoughts in the comments!
