Yakuza 3, 4, 5, and 6 will all be making their way to Xbox Game Pass in the coming months, bringing the rest of the Kazuma Kiryu Yakuza saga (Yakuza 0 through Yakuza 6) to Xbox One and PC. The four games were previously exclusive to the PlayStation 4, but SEGA has been seeing a lot of success with ports to other platforms, including PC and Xbox. The company made a promise earlier this year to develop more ports for older titles and to focus more on multi-platform releases for future titles. The most recent Yakuza game, Yakuza: Like A Dragon, was the first to live up to that promise.

Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 were re-released as part of the Yakuza Remastered Collection on PlayStation 4 last year. The three games were remastered at 1080p and 60fps and featured updated localizations to better match modern standards. The remasters also included all additional content that was ever released for the originals. Yakuza 6: The Song Of Life was the first in the series to be developed exclusively for the PlayStation 4 and utilized the developer’s new “Dragon Engine.”

The news was stealth dropped during a Game Pass trailer revealed at this year’s Game Awards and was later clarified by Yakuza developer RGG Studio in a follow-up tweet. The tweet confirms a release date of January 28, 2021 for the Yakuza Remastered Collection (the remastered Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 bundle) and a release date of March 25, 2021 for Yakuza 6: The Song of Life. RGG Studio also confirmed that each game would be available for purchase individually on Xbox outside of Game Pass.

We’re excited to announce that the entire mainline Kiryu Yakuza saga will soon be available on Xbox Game Pass, Windows 10, and Steam! 🐉 The Yakuza Remastered Collection (Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 also available separately) – Jan 28, 2021 🐉 Yakuza 6: The Song of Life – Mar 25, 2021 pic.twitter.com/Xg1ORNE6xv

The titles will be available on Xbox One, Windows 10, and Steam – the first time they are appearing on the platforms. With Yakuza: Like A Dragon releasing this past month, this means that every mainline Yakuza game will now be available on those platforms. It is only the spin-offs (Yakuza: Dead Souls, Judgement) that are missing now. However, there are still Yakuza games that have yet to be localized in any capacity, notably Yakuza: Kenzan and Yakuza: Ishin.

Following the success of Yakuza 0, Kiwami, Kiwami 2, and Like A Dragon, it was only a matter of time until SEGA realized the goldmine that is multi-platform releases. The company has been increasingly embracing the PC platform for international releases, bringing Persona 4 Golden overseas earlier this year in the best port yet of the game. Although that title is yet to be made available on Xbox Game Pass, having day one versions of Yakuza 3, 4, 5, and 6 is definitely nice and bodes well for future SEGA releases through the service. Xbox Game Pass has proven once again that it is one of the best values in all of gaming and it will be interesting to see just how much more is added this coming year.
