American Horror Story Renewed Through Season 13 By FX

FX’s wildly successful horror anthology series American Horror Story has been renewed by the network through season 13. The Ryan Murphy-produced series has become a staple for the network, especially around Halloween. Each new season has offered up a variety of different horror-related concepts to scare its audiences. From witches to cults, the show has navigated a number of different avenues in the horror genre and most recently wrapped up their ninth season titled American Horror Story: 1984, which paid homage to classic ’80s slasher films.

In 2018, it was announced that American Horror Story was renewed for its tenth season, which was also supposed to be the show’s final one. This was around the same time that Murphy had inked a five-year deal with Netflix which kicked off with the release of The Politician last fall. Despite the new Netflix deal, Murphy had explained numerous times that he still remains committed to his slate at FX, which also includes the Emmy-nominated series Pose. But, amidst the chaos of his busy schedule, Murphy also expressed that he’d love to continue his beloved horror anthology series well beyond season 10. Thankfully, it appears that his wish will be coming true.

According to TV Line, FX has renewed American Horror Story for seasons 11, 12, and 13. John Landgraf, chairman of FX Networks and FX productions explained that Murphy and his co-creator Brad Falchuk “are the undisputed masters of horror TV, having created the anthological limited series with American Horror Story and sustaining its success for nearly a decade.” Landgraf went on to explain that the network is “grateful to them and Dana Walden and our studio partners for committing to another three years.” He continued on by boasting how the show has “showcased a wealth of award-winning actors since day one” and that they “appreciate the contributions of everyone.”

This renewal is certainly exciting news for the show’s creators and for fans of the series. It’s evident that Murphy is passionate about this show and wants to continue creating new stories and building his American Horror Story universe. Although that isn’t technically something he’s created, fans have loved connecting each new season with previous installments. It seems Murphy enjoys the excitement radiating around these connections as well, considering he crafted his eighth season, Apocalypse, to specifically connect with events from season 1’s Murder House and season 3’s Coven.

Creating callbacks to previous seasons is something that’s become a massive hit with the series’ fanbase. Even though its an anthology series, the show’s creators have found fun new ways to connect their seasons, crafting their own little American Horror Story universe. Although it’s unclear if Murphy will continue this pattern in the future, it’s fun to speculate on where he could be heading next. One thing’s for certain, the series will surely continue to gather incredible talent in each season, with beloved favorites already exclaiming how they’d love to come back. He truly has the world at his fingertips when it comes to American Horror Story. And now, thankfully, Murphy has three more seasons to shock and terrify his dedicated audience.
