Among Us Mira Map First Draft What Changed Before Release

With the arrival of the new Airship map on a lot of Among Us fans’ minds, indie developer InnerSloth has shared a first draft of its Mira HQ map. With many fans looking ahead, it’s nice to glance back and see how far the game has come from conception to implementation.

Among Us is the hit social deduction game that skyrocketed in popularity last year, although it initially released in 2018. Since its release, Among Us has gotten new maps, including Mira HQ and Polus in 2019. Now, thanks to a tweet from InnerSloth earlier this year, fans have gotten a glimpse of the first draft of Mira HQ, and it’s interesting to see just how much was changed before the final version was released.

It’s always interesting to see the development process of games, and InnerSloth has been great about sharing tidbits of trivia and behind-the-scenes information on the social media accounts for both the studio and Among Us. Last month, for instance, the company released stats showing that dark green, brown, and lime green were the least popular colors among Among Us fans. It’s these kinds of reveals that fans enjoy seeing between content updates, and it’s why fans were in awe of how much has changed between the first draft of Mira HQ and the way it appears in-game.

Mira HQ Final Version Changes In Among Us Explained

In the first draft of Mira HQ (pictured above), the layout of the Among Us map is noticeably different. The launchpad, although still on the southwestern end of the map, is pictured beside the breakroom and medical bay – which didn’t happen in the final version seen in Among Us. Another difference is that the entire top portion of Mira HQ (featuring the greenhouse, office, and admin) that made it into the game is completely missing from this first draft. Instead, admin appears in the southeastern corner, while the office and greenhouse aren’t listed at all.

Hallways and other rooms were added in a later draft, apparently, since multiple areas are missing from this first draft. It’s interesting to see just how much Mira HQ changed between first draft and release, and it’s great that InnerSloth is willing to share this info with fans. While it may not be the Airship map that many fans are waiting for, it’s still a nice behind-the-scenes look at Among Us.

Maps are a major part of Among Us, so it’s nice to see a bit of the development process and see just how much the layout of Mira HQ has changed from its original conception. It’s unclear when new maps will come to the game once the Airship releases, but maybe InnerSloth will share more behind-the-scenes photos of upcoming maps in the future.
