One new feature that is set to debut with Among Us’ upcoming 15-player update is the ability for players to honk the airship’s horn. After the indie game skyrocketed to superstardom last year, developer Inner Sloth restructured all of its production plans in order to give more support to the hit release even though the title had been available to the public since mid-2018.

InnerSloth’s efforts to keep a good portion of the massive player base Among Us accrued in 2020 revolve around the same principles that most ongoing online multiplayer titles stick to, namely adding new content without sacrificing what made the game special in the first place. One of these coming updates will add a host of new features include increasing player lobbies from 10 to 15, new player colors, and improved art styles. Now it has been revealed that there will be a small but still notable inclusion coming with those adjustments as well.

The official Among Us Twitter account posted the important addition in the form of a short video showing how players will be able to “honk horn in the Airship” after the 15 player update is released. Accompanying the demonstration was a screenshot depicting a conversation one of the developers had with some fans revolving around players’ “need” to honk the horn. In that exchange, the developer promised fans that the next update would allow such a privilege and added the mantra “believe in horn, believe in honk.” As of now, no official release date has been given for the update which will implement this change.

With today’s wide range of social media platforms, it is easier than ever for fans to give their direct feedback to content creators no matter the medium. While some creators choose not to engage with fans and in some cases are even hostile towards them, Inner Sloth seems to be embracing and encouraging the developer-to-player interactions. It is a strategy that appears to be working as Among Us continues to boast millions of players.

It is the gamers, not the developers, who have the final say on how much a game stands out by the way it is consumed through the community. Now that communication between the two parties can be direct, developers should be trying to find out what their player bases want, both by what is said and what is unsaid. As things stand right now, Inner Sloth seems to be on the right path when it comes to supporting Among Us.
