Andor Show Every Star Wars Character Confirmed Rumored & Who Can Return

The upcoming Disney+ series Star Wars: Andor will follow the Rebel spy Cassian Andor before the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and may feature other familiar Star Wars characters as well. Andor is still in production and doesn’t have an official release date yet, but numerous iconic Star Wars characters are rumored to appear in the series and there are others who can potentially return due to the show’s place in the canon universe’s timeline.

Andor will be set five years before the events of Rogue One, a setting that can be used to extrapolate the show’s potential storylines and returning characters. In 5 BBY, the Rebel Alliance, as it’s shown in Rogue One and the Star Wars original trilogy, doesn’t exist in an official capacity yet. Various disparate Rebels cells were gradually cropping up across the galaxy to oppose Star Wars’ oppressive Galactic Empire. The cells differed in size, military might, and ideology, but all shared a desire to overthrow the Empire, and, with the help of leaders like Mon Mothma and Bail Organa, these groups eventually coalesced into a single, official faction in 2 BBY. However, according to 2020’s Star Wars Encyclopedia, many cells were already linked in 5 BBY and were unofficially calling themselves the “Rebel Alliance,” which may be reflected in Andor.

With its 5 BBY setting, Andor will also be concurrent with the first season of Star Wars Rebels. For better or worse, this makes cameos by numerous fan-favorite characters almost impossible. Since most of the Ghost’s crew didn’t come into contact with the larger Rebellion until the end of the first season, viewers shouldn’t expect to see the live-action debut of Kanan Jarrus or Sabine Wren in Andor. This unfortunately also applies to Captain Rex, who was living on Seelos away from the Empire’s influence alongside fellow retired Republic clones Wolffe and Gregor. The setting doesn’t prevent all Rebels characters from appearing in Andor, however, and some may return alongside other familiar faces from the Star Wars saga.

Cassian Andor

Unsurprisingly, the most prominent returning Star Wars character in Andor will be the Rogue One spy and hero Cassian Andor. Andor was a seasoned Rebel spy in Rogue One, but the upcoming Disney+ series may show him in his early days as a Rebel, perhaps even showing how he joined the cause in the first place. Cassian has been fighting since he was a child, and he was originally part of the villainous Separatist Alliance during the Clone Wars. Andor could address Cassian’s Separatist past, having him come to terms with fighting for an oppressive regime before joining a movement to overthrow a different one.

K-2SO

Another confirmed character for Andor will be his reliable droid sidekick, K-2SO. The story of how the Imperial Security Droid was reprogrammed to serve Cassian and the Rebellion was already told in the Rogue One – Cassian & K-2SO one-shot comic, but these events may be retold in Andor. The canon continuity has occasionally overwritten comic and novel content in their recent TV shows, so Andor could reimagine the events of the comics. Another possibility is that Andor adapts it, allowing the two to co-exist in canon. The comic’s exact place on the canon timeline is unclear, so K-2SO’s return might happen in Andor’s first season.

Mon Mothma

As the leader and co-founder of the Rebel Alliance, as well as a prominent character in Rogue One and Rebels, it’s no surprise that former Republic senator Mon Mothma was officially announced to be returning in Andor. Mothma, along with several other Republic politicians, planted the seeds of the Rebellion before the end of the Clone Wars. Under Padmé Amidala’s leadership, she joined the Delegation of 2000 in protest of the Republic’s rapid descent towards fascism. Given that the Rebel Alliance is still being formed in 5 BBY, Mothma could refer to the delegation, as well as Padmé, in Andor.

Saw Gerrera

Saw Gerrera first appeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, made his live-action debut in Rogue One, and is rumored to appear once more in Andor. Saw was a leader of an Onderon rebel movement to repel Separatist occupation of his home planet. As shown in Star Wars: The Bad Batch and Jedi: Fallen Order, Saw quickly took up arms against the Empire once it supplanted the Republic, recognizing their ill intentions immediately. The Partisans, Saw’s rebel cell, were on good terms with the rest of the burgeoning Rebel Alliance up until the final seasons of Rebels, where their brutality and extremism drove them apart from the other, more humane Rebellion groups. Andor would likely depict Saw as an ally to Cassian and the other Rebels at this point in the timeline, however.

Bail Organa

Another Rogue One supporting character rumored to return, Bail Organa was a member of the Delegation of 2000 who later helped to found the Rebellion, along with Mon Mothma. Bail appeared prominently in a season 1 episode of Rebels, learning about the crew of the Ghost (the Spectres) to see if they were worth recruiting to the larger Rebel movement. Organa could appear alongside Mon Mothma as a Rebel leader, and his research on the Spectres may be mentioned, acknowledging his actions in Star Wars Rebels season 1.

Orson Krennic

The Imperial officer and main antagonist of Rogue One, Orson Krennic, is also rumored (but unconfirmed) to appear in Andor. Considering that Krennic and Cassian only interacted briefly in Rogue One (with Cassian blasting and injuring Krennic) with no pre-established history, it’s highly unlikely that the two will meet in Andor. Krennic’s career in the Imperial military is defined by his work on the Death Star battlestation. The Rebellion likely wasn’t aware of the Death Star in 5 BBY, so any appearance by Krennic may only be a brief cameo.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

The Jedi Master and general in the Clone Wars, Obi-Wan “Ben” Kenobi is reportedly going to have a reoccurring role in Andor. This is an exciting development for many Star Wars fans, as Kenobi is a major character in the main Skywalker Saga and will soon star in an upcoming Disney+ series of his own. While Obi-Wan presumably spent most of his time between the prequel and original trilogies on Tatooine, he was also a close ally to Bail Organa, and because of this, he may provide the fledgling Rebellion with information gleaned by his Force-imbued perception. Kenobi may even leave Tatooine on missions for Organa if need be. Kenobi’s survival of the Jedi Purge was known to only a few key allies, so he may only interact with Organa, if he appears in Andor.

Hera Syndulla

Rebel Star Wars character Hera Syndulla was the leader and co-founder of the Rebellion’s Phoenix Cell, and was in contact with Bail Organa in Rebels season 1, helping her crew join his rebel movement. While there are no rumors of Hera appearing in Andor, a possible appearance is possible, considering the 5 BBY setting of both the Disney+ series and Rebels. Hera could easily make her live-action debut in Andor, speaking with Cassian and Bail Organa while joining their Rebel Alliance.

Ahsoka Tano

Having already made her live-action debut in The Mandalorian, Ahsoka Tano was a powerful member of Bail Organa’s rebel movement in 5 BBY, operating under the code name “Fulcrum.” This alias was shared by several other Rebel spies, including Cassian himself. An appearance by Ahsoka could involve her and Bail Organa speaking to Hera about their plans to consolidate the galaxy’s various rebel movements. Considering that Cassian is also a Fulcrum agent, Ahsoka could also be a mentor to him in Star Wars: Andor – he wouldn’t be the first redeemed Separatist to become an ally of Tano.
