With the holidays right around the corner, Animal Crossing New Horizons players can benefit from learning how to craft ornaments. Throughout the year, Animal Crossing is one of the few titles to release content to coincide with events happening in the real world. Major holidays such as Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas all have their own dedicated items to collect and activities to participate in. With Toy Day right around the corner, players are eager to decorate their island with new ornament items. Although, they will only be available for a limited time.
Ornaments function a bit differently than the other holiday items in Animal Crossing. From December 15th to January 6th, decorated pine trees will begin to drop colored ornaments. It’s important to mention that pine trees will only appear depending on the player’s hemisphere. If the player shakes them, they have the chance to drop either red, blue, or gold ornaments that can be combined to create different, and more elaborate, holiday items. In order to get their recipes, players will need to shoot down balloons with their slingshots. These will randomly appear over the player’s head as they explore the island.
There are five new ornament recipes that were added to Animal Crossing in the newest update. This includes the ornament tree, crown, garland, table lamp, and giant ornament. The best thing to do would be to shake every pine tree on the island to collect smaller ornaments. Although, make sure to bring a net to avoid being hit by wasps. With the ornament materials only being available for a short period of time, players will need to time travel in case they miss any seasonal recipes. This is how players can craft every new ornament item.
Crafting Ornaments in Animal Crossing New Horizons
- Giant Ornament: 10 red ornaments.
- Ornament Crown: 3 red ornaments, 3 blue ornaments, 3 gold ornaments.
- Ornament Garland: 2 red ornaments, 2 blue ornaments, 2 gold ornaments, 5 iron nuggets.
- Ornament Mobile: 1 ornament, 1 blue ornament, 1 gold ornament, 4 tree branches.
- Ornament Table Lamp: 2 red ornaments, 2 iron nuggets.
The Animal Crossing ornaments should be fairly common as long as players play during this time period. Other items like iron nuggets can be found from harvesting rocks. The best place to do this would be to go on a Nook Miles tour. These are separate islands where players can reap the resources without doing any damage to their main island. Fortunately, grabbing all five ornament items shouldn’t take too long. Grab them before they are removed from the game.
