The Gyroids have returned to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and players seem excited that they’ve finally come back to the series. Considering Gyroids have been in every Animal Crossing game since it first came out in 2001, it’s no surprise that they’ve returned for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. There are a ton of different Gyroids to collect, and they have some great benefits that players are sure to enjoy.
The Gyroids returning to Animal Crossing: New Horizons are the furniture type. Before the update, a Gyroid character already in the game, called Lloid, helps players in a few different ways, such as bridge and incline construction. Lloid is a rare Gyroid who can talk to players and gets unlocked after talking to Tom Nook and asking him about infrastructure on the island.
There are 36 different families of Gyroids in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and each family has a different sound attached to them. The names of the Gyroids even give a hint to which sounds they make. An excellent example of the names and noises is the Sproingoid family. If a player gets close to a Gyroid from the Sproingoid family, a spring-type noise comes from the Gyroid. Besides the noise, players will also see the Gyroid do a little dance when they get closer to them. A great idea is to bring them to K.K. Slider and watch them dance and “sing” along to his songs for a bit of fun.
How To Get Gyroids In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
After downloading the November 2021 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons to version 2.0, players can get their first Gyroid from Brewster when they find him. To find new Gyroids, players have to get the Kapp’n involved and go for one of his boat cruises, which will cost them Nook Miles.
Upon arriving on one of Kapp’n’s Hidden Gem islands, players can dig Gyroid Fragments the same way they dig up fossils, but only once a day. A star-shaped hole on the ground looks identical to the one that produces fossils, and that is where players should dig for Gyroid Fragments. It seems Gyroid Fragments have a better chance to appear the day after it either rains or snows.
After collecting a Fragment, players can return home and plant the Fragment in the ground. Players can tell it’s a Gyroid planted by the tiny wisp of smoke seen leaving the ground. They will need to water the hole that has the smoke, and the next day, players can expect to find a Gyroid in that spot. They can use Gyroids to decorate rooms in their Animal Crossing: New Horizons home and add background sound effects to accentuate their island life.
