Animal Crossing International Museum Day & Wedding Event Returning

On Wednesday, April 28, Nintendo will deploy a free update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons that makes way for upcoming events, including the return of International Museum Day and Wedding Season. As many a seasoned Animal Crossing player may recall, Wedding Season first hit New Horizons last June, allowing players to participate in an in-game event that celebrated the union of lovebirds Cyrus and Reese.

The event itself task players with replicating various aspects of Cyrus’ and Reese’s wedding ceremony. Thus, players must follow instructions on how to properly layout the venue. A photoshoot soon thereafter takes center stage; if the happy couple is pleased with the results, they’ll shower the player character with specific rewards. The real-world holiday International Museum Day isn’t exactly new to Animal Crossing, either. In fact, Nintendo hosted an International Museum Day event in New Horizons last May, though the in-game festivities ran for about two weeks. Fortunately, newcomers and players who missed out on these events in 2020 have a chance to join the fun very soon.

Today, Nintendo announced a free update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons will go live on April 28. Said update is mandatory for all who want to participate in upcoming events. The first event, May Day, lasts from April 29 to May 7. Players can receive access to a single-use May Day Ticket that opens the doors for a tour on a “rather interesting island.” International Museum Day follows shortly thereafter, taking place from May 18 until May 31. To participate in the Stamp Rally, fans must visit Blathers to retrieve a stamp card. Museum exhibits for art, fish, fossils, and insects will sit center stage. Finally, this year’s Wedding Season will once more see players join Cyrus and Reese on Harvey’s Island throughout the month of June. The couple has another photoshoot lined up and players can make the most of the event by grabbing wedding season-themed cosmetics and furniture from Nook Shopping and Able Sisters.

It seems these seasonal events are in-game extras that Animal Crossing: New Horizons players can expect Nintendo to revisit whenever the time’s right. Whether or not the events themselves will ever receive notable enhancements in the future remains to be see, of course. For now, at least, those who missed out in 2020 have an opportunity to experience May Day, International Museum Day, and Wedding Season this year.

As of earlier February 2021, New Horizons exceeded 31 million units sold. Such incredible sales success is despite the game just celebrating its first anniversary. Like several other major Nintendo exclusives, this particular release will likely continue to move millions of units in the years to come.
