Animal Crossing Makeup Collection Sold Out In Less Than An Hour

The new Animal Crossing makeup collection was available for fans of the Nintendo series but sold out within one hour. Demand for real-world collectibles has been raging ever since Animal Crossing: New Horizons dropped in March 2020. Among the officially-licensed products Nintendo has announced for the Animal Crossing series, fans can look forward to a custom Animal Crossing gaming chair, as well as a Villager Collection Mini-Figure set from Bandai Shokugan.

When Nintendo announced a new Animal Crossing collaboration with the makeup and skincare company ColourPop earlier in January 2021, fans were chomping at the bit to get their hands on these products. The company promised players would be able to do their makeup just like their favorite characters in Animal Crossing. Whether they loved Bunnie’s blushy cheeks or Gladys’ winged eyeliner, the makeup collection would give fans the tools and instructions they needed to make that happen. Not only could they beautify their character and home in Animal Crossing, they could do so in real life. The collection was expected to sell out extremely quickly, given ColourPop’s success collaborating on Sailor Moon, Hello Kitty, and Disney collections in the past.

According to Nintendo Life, within one hour of going live at 10 AM PT on January 28, the entire ColourPop x Animal Crossing collection was nearly picked clean. The complete set, which includes all four mini palettes, three mini lip tint duos, a blush compact, a new shade of Super Shock Shadow, a Bellionaire Glitter Gel, and an exclusive sticker sheet, is completely sold out. As of this writing, only one item is still available to purchase, the What a Hoot shadow palette. It’s unclear how long this product will last as fans begin to style themselves like their favorite Animal Crossing neighbor.

Clearly, fan demand has far exceeded ColourPop’s wildest expectations. Not only did the complete collection sell out, but the majority of the individual products sold out as well. Considering its success, it’s possible another ColourPop x Animal Crossing collaboration will happen in the future. Fans who are eager for any of the ColourPop products can now subscribe to a mailing list so they will be notified when whichever product they had their eye on becomes available. Hopefully, Animal Crossing fans can still manage to save up the bells to buy the makeup when it’s back in stock. Until then, at least the game remains a good distraction.
