Brewster, the coffee-serving pigeon, needs to be introduced into Animal Crossing: New Horizons and given more purpose in the overall game.

Although Animal Crossing: New Horizons has already done an impressive job at incorporating NPCs from previous versions of the game into its newest installment, there’s one character that’s still missing — Brewster. The small pigeon and his famous coffee shop The Roost are nowhere to be found in New Horizons.
Brewster was featured in Animal Crossing: Wild World, Animal Crossing: City Folk, and Animal Crossing: New Leaf, in which he would sell a cup of joe to players for 200 bells — don’t forget to add the pigeon milk. Brewster comes off as reserved and aloof at first, but if Animal Crossing players spend enough time trying to chat him up (and paying for his coffee), he’d become friendly.
The pigeon was a cute addition to Animal Crossing games, even if he didn’t serve a large purpose or offer many different options for interaction. Still, it’s possible for Nintendo to reimagine Brewster’s role and find a way to incorporate him into Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Will Brewster Appear In Animal Crossing: New Horizons?
The odds look good for a return of Brewster. In April, New Horizons made reference to the beloved character during a piece of dialogue. Some players turned to social media to reveal that their Animal Crossing villagers made specific reference to the quiet pigeon and his famous coffee shop. In one clip posted to Twitter by @sliceofcy, for example, Clay tells the player’s villager “I’m still wide awake! I guess Brewster was right! 17 cups of coffee is 3 too many!” While this is certainly no confirmation that Brewster is coming back anytime soon, the little nod makes it clear that Nintendo knows Brewster is a beloved character from past games, so his return could be in the works.

With that being said, if Animal Crossing were to re-introduce Brewster into the fold in a new Animal Crossing update, he would likely have to be given more purpose. In past versions of the game, the pigeon was only in charge of making patrons coffee, and while the dialogue was cute, it would get repetitive quickly. Brewster would need to be in charge of something more significant. Perhaps a café should come to Animal Crossing, something with more food and drink options than only coffee, or he could also run a little shop. In previous Animal Crossing generations, Brewster’s coffee shop was connected to the museum, but a bookstore would tie in nicely with Brewster’s theoretical café; players could have the option to read short but silly stories there, or his café could even connect to a library that similarly allows players to interact with books.
Future updates could definitely reintroduce Brewster to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and considering how many players would love to see that happen (and the hints that Nintendo hasn’t forgotten the caffeine-loving bird yet) the future is looking bright.
