Animal Crossing When Shooting Stars Actually Happen

Running a small, island town in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a lot of fun for players who enjoy a laid-back simulation style game, but Animal Crossing still keeps players busy with plenty of events all year long. Some occur more than once, like the Fishing Tourney and Bug Off. However, a reoccurring event that many players are on the lookout for is the Meteor Shower that brings shooting stars to their island’s night sky.

Catching a Meteor Shower when it happens on a player’s Animal Crossing island can be difficult. The event happens randomly on any day of the week, and does not correlate with other player islands. The event starts after 7PM, and fans must keep an eye on the night sky using their right joystick to look up if they want to see the stars. To wish on a shooting star, a player must hit the ‘A’ button just as the stars wink into view. Wandering the island and wishing on these stars is a relaxing way to spend an evening in Animal Crossing.

Meteor Shower events have been a part of the game’s experience since the Nintendo GameCube release of Animal Crossing in 2002. Players can wish on shooting stars in Animal Crossing, Wild World, City Folk, and New Leaf as well as New Horizons. Each game has different requirements for wishing on the stars, and what players get when they do. Animal Crossing: New Horizons also allows players to travel to other islands to watch the stars, making the reoccurring event a fun way to share the game with friends.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Meteor Shower’s Happen On Random Nights

The day following Animal Crossing’s Meteor Shower event, players can search their beaches to find a collection of Star Fragments scattered among the shells and washed up bottles. Animal Crossing players can collect up to 20 Star Fragments if they wished on enough shooting stars the night before. They can find regular Star Fragments, Large Star Fragments, and Zodiac Fragments. The Zodiac Fragments change depending on the constellations throughout the year, keeping players busy collecting each type as the months change.

Star Fragments can be used to craft a long list of different recipes, from space-themed walls and flooring to a large rocket decoration. Star Fragments are also needed to craft Animal Crossing’s Magic Wands which allow players to instantly change into pre-set outfits wherever they are on their island. Having the chance to view beautiful shooting star showers from a beach is another reason that playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons is such a fun and relaxing treat for players who want to get away from the stress of daily life, and catching a Meteor Shower is a great way to end a day of exploring.
