Update 2: Here’s how to download Apex Legends on Xbox, PS4, and PC.

Update: The livestream full reveal has been changed to 12pm noon PST / 3pm EST, but throughout the day more leaks have revealed the Apex Legends game map, and additional details characters on characters. Original article followed by new images.

Leaks and reports spoiled the big news, but Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends is real. And yes, it is coming tomorrow right alongside its official full reveal.

First unveiled over the weekend by YouTuber TheQuartering, and then further confirmed by multiple media outlets and our own sources, Apex Legends is a free-to-play battle royale shooter described as a Titanfall spinoff of sorts, sans the actual Titans. Details on gameplay features are not yet official, but the full reveal comes tomorrow morning, Monday, February 4th at 8am PST on Twitch according to the newly launched Apex Legends Twitter account.

To promote the game, publisher Electronic Arts is going the influencer route, having invited and paid streamers and YouTubers to a secret LA event last week to play the game. Tonight, those attendees all posted sponsored tweets in unison, sharing excitement that they can discuss the game tomorrow after Respawn’s presentation. All of these tweets, paid for by EA, were hashtagged as an #Ad so take that for what you will. This is marketing, not personal opinions.

Gameplay details are not yet official, but the early reports described Apex Legends as a 60-player battle royale experience where players fight as 3-person teams. There are multiple classes and the game will be playable on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Respawn Entertainment, according to Kotaku, was initially working on Titanfall 3 after Titanfall 2 with their dated version of the Source engine after Titanfall 2 but may have converted that to Apex Legends while their other team works on the upcoming Star Wars game Jedi Fallen Order which also debuts in 2019. Speculation is that Respawn would need to develop or upgrade a game engine for Titanfall 3 to keep up with the triple-A shooters and that it could be a long ways off.

As we pointed out in light of the Apex Legends reveal is that the timing is strange since EA is just two weeks away from releasing their other futuristic online-only action game Anthem, and just a few months away from the Battlefield V battle royale mode, Firestorm. There’s a risk of cannibalization here, but perhaps Firestorm is further off than we thought.
