WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Arcane’s third episode, “The Base Violence Necessary for Change,” now streaming on Netflix

League of Legends has a truly staggering number of playable characters, with over 150 options available to players at the time of this writing. While not every single one could realistically appear in Arcane, the first arc from the Netflix animated adaptation of the game introduces plenty of major figures — and teases some others along the way.

Comparing the cast of characters present in Arcane’s first arc with the eventual Champions roster from League of Legends, here are all the major Champions who can be spotted during the course of the Netflix animated series.

Is Vi Is a Bridge Between Zaun and Piltover?

One of the main protagonists of Arcane, Vi is the leader of her band of Zaun-based friends. Raised on the streets by Vander and told to watch after her sister Powder, she’s become a fierce fighter despite her relative youth. Vi is ultimately the only survivor of Powder’s rescue attempt from Silco, causing her to lash out at her sister and seemingly leave her behind to be found by the villain.

By the time of League of Legends, Vi has become a Warden of Piltover, using powerful gauntlets to defend the peace. This suggests she eventually becomes a connecting piece between the two cities of Zaun and Piltover at some point in the future. Given that the ending of Arcane’s first arc saw her captured by the Piltover enforcer Marcus, it’s likely the rest of the series will showcase how Vi becomes the bridge between the cities.

Powder Takes on the Title of Jinx

Powder is introduced as Vi’s younger sister, a trouble-causing tagalong for her gang. Although she often hints at a talent for shooting and device construction, she’s referred to as a “jinx” for constantly messing up their jobs. The one time her bomb does go off as she intended, the blast comes at the worst time — killing her friends, seemingly dooming her adopted father and driving Vi away from her in rage.

This leaves Powder to be taken in by Silco, who likely embraces her more destructive and chaotic impulses. This sets the stage for Powder to take on the title of Jinx as a name instead of just as an insult, becoming the trigger-happy explosives expert who is featured heavily in League of Legends.

Jayce Helps Create Hextech

A brilliant young scientist in Piltover, Jayce comes from a minor family that developed a useful tool for the city. As a student in the Piltover Academy, his attempts to master magic eventually get him expelled — but his continuing experiments result in him and his surprising partner Viktor in creating the first iteration of Hextech.

Jayce goes on to be a unique character in League of Legends, capable of shifting from ranged to close combat with the use of his signature weapon, the Mercury Hammer. It’s likely that his development into Piltover’s guardian will remain his primary plotline going into the rest of the season — as well as his potentially doomed relationship with Viktor.

Will Viktor End Up a Deadly Champion?

Introduced as Heimerdinger’s assistant, Viktor is a promising young mind from the city of Zaun who found himself accepted — if not embraced — by the people of Piltover. Intrigued by Jayce’s research, he risks his own reputation to assist in his experiments.

Although Jayce was quick to share the credit for his Hextech inventions with Viktor, the original League of Legends incarnation of Viktor ended up a deadly champion in his own right — and is positioned as a foil to Jayce in a way that doesn’t bode well for their friendship in the show.

Heimerdinger Is an Important Figure in Arcane

Heimerdinger is introduced in Arcane as a ruling member of Piltover’s government. The Dean of the Academy and a member of the governing council, Heimerdinger’s word carries significant weight. He relates to Jayce’s drive to improve the world, but fears his experiments into magic may cause pain and chaos.

Despite his attempts to contain these experiments, Jayce and Viktor end the initial arc of Arcane having cracked the key to creating Hextech. In League of Legends, Heimerdinger and his inventions — including a series of automated gunners — eventually joined the fray, suggesting Heimerdinger may eventually take to the battlefield if combat is called upon.

Caitlyn Is One of League of Legends’ Iconic Snipers

A member of a high society Piltover family that financially supported Jayce during his early days, Caitlyn developed a close bond with the young man. Although she gets little to do in the first arc of Arcane, paintings of her family show her with a gun in hand.

This likely references Caitlyn’s role in League of Legends as one of the game’s most iconic snipers. A deadly accurate markswoman, her evolution from high society to sheriff of Piltover will likely play out in future episodes. Especially exciting is her eventual partnership with Vi — suggesting the two characters may yet be introduced to one another down the line in Arcane.

Ekko Sets the Events of Arcane in Motion

Affectionately referred to as “the Little Man” by other denizens of Zaun, Ekko is an assistant to Vander’s friend, Benzo. With a keen eye and sharp ear, Ekko ends up informing Vi and her friends of a potential storage of valuables in Piltover — setting up their eventual venture to the city and setting the events of Arcane in motion in the first place.

Surviving the chaos at the end of the season by not being present for Powder’s explosive blunder, Ekko is set to become a far more important character as the series progresses. Eventually mastering time-control, Ekko becomes a formidable figure himself.

Singed Develops the Shimmer Formula for Silco

Singed is introduced as a scientist working for the villainous Silco, developing the Shimmer formula. The formula transforms people into monstrous new versions of themselves — enhanced physically but seemingly turned positively feral. He’s present when Silco’s lab is targeted by Powder, and is seemingly caught in the massive explosion she causes.

Although Singed could have been killed in the blast, it’s far more likely that this set him on the path to becoming more like his game counterpart: a deranged scientist who uses dangerous chemicals against his enemies. He’s even always shown with a bandaged face — which could be hiding the lingering effects of the blast from Arcane.

Arcane’s Other Possible Champions

Although they aren’t confirmed for sure by the end of the first arc, there are hints that tease the potential presence of other important characters. Perhaps the most notable is Ryze, a powerful sorcerer from League of Legends. It’s possible that Ryze is the powerful sorcerer encountered by Jayce and his mother in the second episode of Arcane, responsible for saving the pair — notably using spells that appear similar to his game incarnations’ abilities.

The other possibilities depend on the long-term effects of Shimmer on others. A rat exposed to the drug by Singed as a showcase for Silco could potentially grow to become the rat champion Twitch, similar to how the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were created. The effect clearly causes vicious, purple-colored mutations in people — somewhat similar to the eventual appearance of the massive brawler, Mundo. This could mean Vander becomes Mundo after being forced to ingest the stimulant to save Vi.

However, there’s another possibility that — given the events of Vander’s apparent death while on Shimmer and in-game hints that could connect the wolf-like Warwick, Vi and Jinx — he’s transformed into the werewolf-like beast instead.
